AT&T is really, really awful.
So I got the Iphone 4G with AT&T about 3 months ago. Now they don't offer unlimited data with the 4G if you are a new customer. Big mistake I made. I have 2GB of data and I always go over that and get charged.Do any of you know how I can get unlimited data? Is it possible at all? Are any of you in the same situation as me?
AT&T is really, really awful.
How do you go over though? I stream a lot of videos, music and podcast on my phone and never have that problem. I even have my kids watch Netflix whenever I'm out and have to wait quite a while. 2 and 4 yr olds don't do so well with wait times.
A good work around is to make sure there are available wifi networks that are open. Whenever I go someplace I know I'll be for a while, I always scan for a network to connect to. You'd be surprised how available they are.
Having said that, I don't have any problems when I'm not connected to a network. You must be streaming 24/7 or something.
2 gigs of data really isn't . Its not hard to go over it. I never bother turning wifi on my phone. Seems redundant as . Then again I don't have AT&T.
4g iPhone? Does it have 32 g-b-s's?
Again, I do a lot of streaming and I don't run over. 2 gb may not be a whole lot, but if you're smart about it, it's more than enough.
I most of my internet stuff while connected to a network, but I do quite a bit off network too.
Just stay connected to a wifi network at home, work, school, anywhere it's free etc and you'll be fine. Streaming videos eats up a lot of data as well
301 MB this month, six days left.
807.39 MB used to this day.
I have unlimited data so I don't care how much I run. But how do you find out how much data is runned anyway?
When you log in online to your account, it should tell you.
139.048MB with 13 days left, but I am usually on wifi.

Being on Wifi is going to be your best bet. You're going to get faster download speeds, especially if you're connected to an N router. You can download data a lot faster this way. Personally, I download a lot of podcasts straight to my phone, so being on a wireless network helps tremendously.
However, even though sometimes the podcast is too large to download on the 3G network, you can still listen to the podcast straight from iTunes, streaming for free. So either way I've never been unable to listen to what I want.
But it helps keep the data usage down.
i didn't purchase internet for my ipad this month but the other months i would come in just shy of the 2gb plan. i'd just browse websites and download apps and that was all, no streaming or anything like that.
The Iphone does N wifi?
Only the iPhone 4 does.
I only get 500 MB with my data plan, but I don't come close to going over (300MB a month).
I haven't passed a gig yet. I'd crush 500 mb though. I need to find out how to connect to the wifi networks at work so I can drop that data usage down even more and lower my rate plan.
You greedy bas s are using up ALL the internets.

Try going over 5 gigs per month for a few months, AT&T will let you know how limited your "unlimited" data plan is.![]()
its really tough to go over 5gb. you need to be downloading alot of or streaming vids daily or using the phone as a hotspot. i got verizon so im technically on the unilmited aka 5gig limit. i never get close to passing it. i do sometimes cautiously use the wifi teether. i dont know if they can see if im doing it but i cant risk it.
Damn that sucks that a limit is imposed.
At work I switch on my Samsung Epic to 4g and turn on hotspot...2 of my co workers hook up Itouch's and used my phone for a gateway while we work plus I surf on it.....when I'm at my parents I used the hotspot for my Laptop or I play my brothers Xbox/PS3 online from my phone.
Glad I don't have to worry about a limit when I'm connected to 4G.
I was out of town for the holidays and used my SlingPlayer from my iPhone 4 to watch the Spurs games... Used up about 4GB (7 games)...
I'm grandfathered into an old plan so I have unlimited... I also hardly go over a gig a month when I'm at home...
Unfortunately, metered/tiered access is the trend now for more than just AT&T... VZW already announced they're going that route, and Sprint will also do that for 3G access. So far, only their 4G access is unlimited (I'm sure it will be tiered by the time it gains a good market share)...
So if you can setup some sort of Wifi spot at home/work, that's probably a good idea.
This.
Verizon is going to be taking over the Iphone market soon enough. Can't wait to get me some Iphone 5 with Verizon!![]()
