Yao Ming: Rockets contact Kings about Yao, Kings say no
Yao Ming - C - HOU - Dec. 29 - 5:12 am et
The Rockets reportedly contacted the Kings about a trade sending Yao Ming and his $17.7 million expiring contract in exchange for DeMarcus Cousins and Samuel Dalembert.
Unsurprisingly, the Kings quickly shot that one down. There will be a team that takes on the contract to clear space for future years, but the Rockets are unlikely to get much in return dealing from a position of weakness

Yao not in the Kings plans
Do the Kings want Yao Ming and his expiring contract?
No, they don't.
As reported by the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Rockets are looking for a team willing to take on Yao, who is out for the season with a stress fracture, and expiring contract in exchange for young talent and draft picks. The Rockets have an insurance policy to cover most of Yao's salary ($17.7 million) and a trade exception worth $6.33 million to entice teams.
The Kings, however, won't be the Rockets trade partner in this case. The Rockets would like DeMarcus Cousins but the Kings have no intention of dealing the rookie. Another part of a deal would have included Samuel Dalembert in exchange for Yao.
Cousins, for all his issues with "professionalism" is still a big part of the Kings future. Dalembert's $12.2 million salary comes off the book next season so the Kings aren't exactly in dire need of another expiring contract.
The Kings would be interested in a deal that would land them a star player, just not one that can't play for them.

I can hear the air leaking out of the ball...pfffsssssssssttttttttt![]()
with no Dalembert and Cousins they don't have any centers. And Yao is done. Why the would they do it.
Is Houston stupid or what? Who would do that trade?
maybe they should contact memphis front office..marc gasol is a solid center.
Memphis...rumor is they would give up Mayo and Gasol
Unfortunately, the rockets aren't getting for Yao.
I love this trade idea. See with the way things are now the Kings may win a game or two by the end of the season. If the trade went down we would guarantee no wins. I like consistency myself and losing every single game would be great for the team.
It's not about getting anything for Yao the player, it's his contract that has value, since it is insured, whoever were to trade for him would have 8 million immediate salary cap relief
Yao is damaged goods, not even salvage value, with career-killing "pre-existing condition".
No more than a contract dump at this point.
Why doesn't Houston just ask the Clips for Blake? Like a bad team is going to give up a young lottery pick when they are about to get another one for Yao.
Not surprised that Morey was talking to his buddy Petrie.
What, no nostalgic feelings for TMac?
luke walton for gasol and mayo is already on da lock.
lakers workin hard on that bynum 4 dwight so they can pull both trades before da playoffs.
There's a certain poetry to this one:

If I was Indazone, than the answer would be yes. But in this case , no!
garcia + dalembert for e would sound a more acceptable deal for kings imho. no way kings lose cousins dudes been a beast this season. rockets ain't getting nothing valuable from yao unless throwing in some valuable youths of their own like Courtney lee etc...
