    tbh rings matter...

IIRC, on this board, I've heard how Kobe is better than LeBron and Duncan because of rings.

Same argument applies here tbh, imo

I don't know, if we include a new ring for his wife for every rape charge... they could add up.

I don't know. The guy won so many, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that he's still winning rings because they haven't caught up yet.

I'll put asterisks by Russell's rings. Back then the "league" had like 8 teams or so with compe ion coming from like 2 of them IIRC. There was also no such thing as free agency either. So if your team (Boston) is stacked, there is no chance that another team could pry a good player away from them like we see nowadays. Let's see Russell without Cousy or Havlicek because they left for more $$ as a free agent. It would be no different from Kobe without Shaq or Gasol IMO. I guess we will never know, huh?

The Celtics got fat during the Russell era winning 11 of their 17 rings* in their first 22 years of existence up to 1969. Impressive? Hardly in my opinion. They won rings maybe once or twice as underdogs. Other than those I'm not impressed. They always played with a stacked team - they should have won.

*The league was ty at best back then. Russell was on stacked teams, so I guess Kobe has no shot to catch him.

of course you will. While we're at it, let's put asterisks on Jordan's les, and those times the Pistons curbstomped LA, and oh just put an asterisk on every non-Lakers le.

Cue "Mavfan wishes he had an asterisked le" comments.

According to the Laker fans, the Lakers will trade piss flaps Bynum for Dwight Howard and Shannon Brown for Chris Paul and win another 7 more championships with Kobe playing until he is 45.
