Not a good way to end the first half, Spurs should be up by double digits...

Nothing you can do when Kidd and Butler are making contested 3s, hopefully it won't last all game, they usually aren't good enough to do it consistently..

Spurs' offense needs to wake up though, too many bad shots and careless plays..

A 7-point lead is decent, the Spurs are the #2 3rd quarter team in the NBA, hopefully they live up to that tonight..

Those last 5 minutes were bad.

We need to do a better job against the zone

oh man, the mavs can really lock things down when they want to. a lot of matchup problems for the spurs as well, especially the mavs' wing players.

Yeah - but at least they increased the lead by 5 in the 2nd quarter.

The Spurs had a great run, and were able to absorb the run by Dallas. That's what points are for. You only need one greater to win.

I can never understand how such a smart, veteran team like the Spurs can struggle against a basic 2-3 matchup type zone. . Not once did I see Duncan get a catch at the FT-line or lower. It isn't hard.

Spurs up by 7 at half. Looking good so far besides that horrendous Mavericks run.

Again, we better have another monster 3rd quarter and put these Mav s away. If we let them hang around, they WILL steal this game, trust me!

Malik had nothing in his first 2 season just rebound and putback.

He develop a decent midrange game and I hope Blair can do the same

But Malik was MUCH BETTER than Blair on D

Also, I hate to say it, but I think Splitter's passing and positioning could be of use against the zone - plus he is used to playing against it a little more from his time playing international ball.

Yep, as we were getting disemboweled by Phoenix last year, I kept wondering "How did we beat the Mavs?"

In addition to the matchup problems, they always play well against us. Look at Jason Kidd tonight for instance.

We scored a lot on a seemingly top defensive team. We just gotta move the ball a bit smarter and keep contesting shots. If Kidd/Butler keep on hitting contested, on the move 3 pointers you jut gotta tip your hat and move on. You just can't do anything about that. I liked our defense on Chandler though. He killed us inside in the first game and had a free throw parade.
