12rebs + 12pts by Ilyasova...
findog looks fine stat-wise but thats not it if/when being compared to the opposing PF. it looks findog has been doing fine as the starting PF all these 3 games but the reality is he got pwned by his opponent every minute he played.
Mavs hangin tough...
Kidd out of the game...wonder what happens?
boykins and barea making each other look good..![]()
were losing the game anyways, no one cares
Jared Sullinger
Strengths: Sullinger has decent size for a post player measuring 6’9” (in shoes) with a 6’11.5” wingspan … He is a bruising throwback post player that uses his 262 pound body to create angles for his shot and to clear space on the boards … Very physical player that uses his body to wear down opposing big men...The Ohio State commit is also very skilled with a repertoire of advanced post moves for a high school player…Comfortable finishing around the rim with either hand … Has excellent hands and footwork and shows very good touch around the basket … Solid rebounder, he attacks the glass at both ends of the floor and creates offensive opportunities off of putbacks…Shows decent form and touch on the 12-18 footer … Passes well out of the post … He’s a winner, leading his Columbus Northland squad to an Ohio Divison 1 state championship and his All-Ohio Red AAU squad to three consecutive National Championships …
Weaknesses: Does not possess elite athleticism…Is prone to having his shot blocked and has some difficulty with longer athletic defenders…Does not run the floor extremely well…Shows ability, but needs to improve consistency of mid-range jumper...Lateral quickness is lacking, creating defensive mismatches versus perimeter oriented PFs…Is not a particularly dominant defensive player due to lack of explosiveness and quickness…Weight could be a long-term issue, not a particularly solid 262 pounds…Potential one-and-done lottery guy, but must improve conditioning and mid-range game and show that he can dominate at the college level …
Derrick Williams
Strengths: Williams had an excellent freshman season, averaging 15 and 7 for a rebounding Arizona team ... A long, 6'9 forward, Williams possesses sound footwork and fundamentals when dealing in the paint... He absorbs contact well, and gets to the line at an excellent rate, attempting 7.5 attempts per game... One of his best assets revolves around his high offensive awareness level- he times his cuts in the paint in rhythm with his point guard and the ball movement around him ... He uses pump fakes and positions his body efficiently when going up for a layup or dunk under the rim ... With his back to the basket, Williams uses his strength, along with long and efficient drop steps to create separation where he can score on 10 foot turn around jumpers and touch hooks ... He is capable of facing up, where he can attack by putting the ball on the floor, and though he doesn't have the speed or handle to blow by his defender, he uses his body to shield his defender, making it difficult to contest his shot ... Defensively, he does a good job bodying up and defending the post ... Only averaged 2.5 personal fouls per game illustrates his high defensive IQ and understanding of defensive positioning ... 7-plus foot wingspan also helps him on the boards and blocking shots ...
Weaknesses: Williams is slightly undersized for a power forward at the next level, lacking great bulk ... He will likely always use speed and length to compensate for a lack of brute strength ... He would really benefit from developing a consistent mid range jump shot ... His face up game would be more effective, and it would add another dimension to his offensive repertoire ... At times, takes him a little too long to execute his move and get off his shot ... Needs to improve vision in the post - when the ball goes down low to him it rarely gets kicked out ... Goes through cold spells from the FT line. Must become more consistent ...
Overall: Earned Pac-Ten freshman of the year. Williams is a smart kid, who works hard and maintains a high activity level every time he steps on the floor ... He's gifted in terms of scoring in the paint with great instincts and strength ... If he can broaden his offensive game by developing a mid range game while improving his handle, Williams could be one of the premier players in college this season, and a potential mid-first rounder ...
looks like a loss![]()
Trey Tompkins
Strengths: A graceful 6-foot-10 bigman with a polished offensive game and feathery touch … One of those players that wows you with skill level instead of athleticism … Can face the basket and knock down shots as well as do work on the block … Highly effective in the half court but also excels in transition … Smooth footwork in the post and strong all around feel for the game … High basketball IQ … Great understanding of post positioning and use of box out … Also does a good job of freeing himself from his man off the ball for passes … Wide base allows him to post up opponents and create space inside … Textbook use of his pivot feet … Has a nice righty baby hook shot … Has range out to three point land … Likes to face up against opposing bigs and use his guard like ball handling ability to create shots … An excellent finisher after contact … Soft hands, very good at corralling bad passes and quick to make plays once he gains possession of the ball … Body strength is good … Uses his big wingspan to clear the boards effectively (8.3 rpg) … Very effective on the offensive glass, utilizing his excellent length and soft hands for tip ins … Does a good job in pick and roll or pick and pop situations … Solid go to player with the ability to get the line and knock down free throws (75%) … Highly advanced skill level for a player with just two years of college basketball under his belt … Has a very calm, even keeled demeanor. Doesn’t get rattled easily … Body has shown solid development in the past year …
Weaknesses: Not a jaw dropping athlete … Upside somewhat limited by his lack of pure athletic ability … Not the most explosive leaper and despite a big wingspan not much of a presence as a shot blocker … Uses finesse instead of athleticism to break opponents down offensively … Skill set makes him more of a threat in the half court. Needs to become a better shooter in the intermediate 12-18 foot range … Needs to get better with his passing and not be quite as careless with the ball … Could stand to tone his body some more …
Notes: A hard worker who played in a college environment in high school at Oak Hill Academy … One of the top returning post players in college basketball … Averaged 17.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 1.9 apg while hitting 23-61 (38%) on 3 point attempts.
Lucas Nogueira
Strengths: Brazil's next big basketball hope after Nene and Leandro Barbosa ... One of the most promising International players of the next generation ... At just 18 years of age, shows a great deal of potential ... An athletic specimen ... Shows tremendous length and great balance ... Runs the floor like a deer, makes quick moves. Can change directions quickly. Very springy ... A big time shot blocker using his length and leaping ability to be an eraser around the basket ... Excellent on the break where he uses his tremendous fluidity and speed to convert dunks ... Shows some offensive ability with a solid shooting touch and ability to knock down free throws ... Tremendous rebounder. Shows good hands.
Weaknesses: The big knock against Lucas "Bebe" is that he is lazy ... Sources around the team claim that he is a little bit difficult to deal with and already has a star's at ude ... Nothing can derail a promising career faster than a kid not willing to put the work in, so for Lucas, keeping his head on straight, continuing to work hard and focusing on his development is crucial if he's going to realize his vast potential ... Must continue to develop his upper body and overall strength ... Still extremely skinny. 200 lbs. Must bulk up, but shows wiry strength and should be able to add weight successfully without diminishing his agility ... Needs to keep developing his offensive game, prove himself against a high level of compe ion ...
Notes: Nickname is "Bebe" which translates to "baby" ... Also known as Lucas Riva ... Full Name is Lucas Riva Amarante Nogueira... Plays for Estudiantes in Spain. Was 2 blocks away from recording a triple double in his first game in San Antonio playing for Brazil against Puerto Rico (20p/12r/8b) ... Has 3 years left on his deal with Estudiantes ...

Boykins is a giant killer ...
Mavs miss dirk ...obviously
in Boykins.
Barea taking step back fadeaway jumpers in crunch time??? wow
Why isn't Bogut drinking that gatorade?
Just not enough consistency on offense w/o Dirk....and Beaubois/Butler/Marion
JET is such garbage w/o Dirk
playing a D-leaguer as your starting PF your supposed to suck this bad tbh
twice. and missed both
Chandler looks frustrated. Ghazi's wife is going to take it up the ass tonight.
jet just takes too many forced shots which is mainly the result of the absence of power in the paint. Brian Cardinal is your best PF now w/o dirk and he's a sheer liability. i like his posts on spurstalk and i revere him as much as it gets, but he's just not an NBA-caliber player.
good night indeed
