I like the way the Spurs are scrapping and fighting for rebounds. That's 180 from recent previous seasons. I also love the way they're forcing turnovers and steals.

Do you guys think we need an enforcer? If we let Ime go we wouldn't really have one.

Well most great teams have one and I think Ime should stay for that reason alone. Unless we need a roster spot for a better player then we should definitely have an enforcer.
Neal didn't shoot well, but he defended and rebounded well.
I can't see Pop sending someone out to get a flagrant. Maybe to intentionally foul a bad shooter like Shaq in Boston when he's on the floor, but an enforcer? No.
Ime is one and done. He's been here before, didn't produce but was a good guy so Pop saw he was out of work, needed a warm body for a while and that's all. Ime will be released to go his merry ing way, I hope.
And if he's kept on but doesn't play?

Also was very mentally bad. Got pop pointing to his head at him a couple times because of it.

You ever heard of guys like Kevin Willis? Tony Massenburg? Those guys played a role on previous championship teams and they weren't main rotation players. IMO it's worth having an enforcer type on the roster.

Kevin played a bigger role that I'd want Ime to play, but I think Ime can be the enforcer for limited minutes compared to K-Will. Very limited minutes. He wouldn't play most of the time, but there might be a certain situation when you could bring him out.Kevin Willis though actually defended and rebounded.

I just liked that he didn't back down from Dwight Howard who was punking us in that last Orlando game and Ime stood up to him and it looked like if Dwight wanted to start something Ime would have been happy to oblige. That game got me thinking about keeping Ime as an enforcer.
Agreed, and that would put him more along the lines of the Tony Massenburg type.
That said, Im hoping when James Anderson comes back Ime is wearing button ups slacks and loafers and being a cheerleader.
Yeah I agree with that too. He'd be on the IR for most of the season and if JA is playing well then you'd probably keep Ime on the IR.
The Massenburg role is definitely more inline for Ime. What I liked about T-Mass was even if we were up by 20+ points he'd come in and play hard like it's a still a close game. He would foul hard and lay the wood on people to make sure they know they ain't getting back into the game. Tim had to tell him to settle down a bit some games. That's what I'd want from Ime if he got any court time. Come in and still play hard and aggressive defense no matter what the score.
It's too bad Tony Massenburg was injured and couldn't come back in 2006. I really think he would have helped us that season. I appreciate everything he did for us the season before.
As long as its not a big financial burden, theres no reason not to hold onto Ime, even though he peaked during the thunder game lol.
IMO, some of the people on here hating on Udoka are thinking of Udoka's last stint with the Spurs. Different cir stances, Udoka of this year, is a good insurance policy and is not asked to produce, or be a a defensive centerpiece like he was a couple of years ago.
Ime is shooting 17.6% off of jump shots this season..I haven't looked it up, but I'm fairly certain that it's the worst jump shooting % in the NBA for any perimeter player..overall, his eFG% is 24%, which is atrocious..he has not scored a point this season on a play where he had to create his own shot or score off of a rebound..
If Pop likes him, the guys want him around and want to see him collect a big paycheck, that's cool with me..however, if he TOUCHES the floor, it's horrible for the Spurs..he doesn't belong on an NBA roster..
The Spurs are having their best season ever so far.
Certainly on offense (only the early 80s squad was equivalent),
and lately on defense as well.
Yet some people can't help but hate someone.
Previously, it was mostly Bonner.
Now, it turned to Udoka. Paradoxically, since he had his best game vs the Thunders, and was a significant part in the best defense we have seen so far.
On a return-on-investment basis, Udoka is excellent: just check what Spurs get out of Splitter, who gets payed 100-times more, currently.
Ime Udoka is a guy that could literally kill someone.
He is no paper-tiger a-la Arenas or Artest.
Check his CV, keyword Algeria.
He is all will and he is zero offense, fluidity, smoothness, quickness, in one word "talent".
When you are a teammate and a coach, it's good to have someone like that.

This is an interesting psycological trait of some forum people.
The less talent they have in their own personal life, the more they want it from their "heroes". In the end, they don't want to see someone talent-less just like them that actually MADE it big time for 4 years at the top of the business.
I like Ime Udoka.

Ah , now you've done it....
Udoka isn't an enforcer. He's never been one and won't be one. Besides, with the way the sport is governed now the enforcer can do more harm than good.
