Mayo ain't the next Kobe..
The mavs need to think about long term along with short term.
they shouldnt go get sjax, dude is too old, the mavs need to get younger.
they should do a 3 team trade with sac and memphis to get Mayo and Casspi.
give beaubois and some picks + money to sac for Casspi, and let sac send memphis some young player to send Mayo to the mavs .
Mayo has the potential to be the next kobe, casspi is a good defender, and is clutch .
Chandler/Haywood
Dirk/Marion
Casspi/Marion
Mayo/Stevenson
Kidd/Terry
They can get Casspi cheaper than giving up Roddy. TPE works, straight-up.
why would they trade a young player who is shooting 40% + from three, and is very marketable for nothing.
plus cuban is jewish, casspi is jewish, marc stein is jewish. it's a family reunion.
Because, like some other teams, they may be taken for salary cap savings at the deadline instead of bringing back a body. I'm not saying they'll do that, but it's financially possible to bring him back for only the exception. They'll likely ask for a guy like Barea and maybe another piece. Mavs need to do that in a heartbeat, but they won't because they're mysteriously attached to Barea's midget .
There is no long term to think about, Dallas has only one true star, and it's not like other teams are waiting to just give them one. And while Dirk is ageing really well, you never know how long it will last. At this point the Mavs have to go for it, and the only think they should worry about is whether giving up Roddy is too much if they are convinced that he can be a star in the next 2-3 years and help Dirk out.
mayo + casspi >>>> sjax.
i watch a lot of grizzlies games, mayo is being misused there because he is like the 5th optoin there behind gay, randolph, gasol , conley. given the chance, he can overtake Dirk as the franchise player for the mavs.
exactly.
The one thing that drives me insane is seeing Mavs front office guys, media guys in Dallas, and Mavs fans talk about how certain moves will affect the future and the "financial flexibility in the future". ALL THAT. Dirk and Kidd have one or two more years, and then IT'S OVER. Roddy is NOT going to be your franchise player.
It seems like Cuban/Donnie know that the clock is almost at zero for the Mavs, yet they aren't showing nearly the urgency required.
I'm going to go ahead and declare that to be freaking re ed. Mayo would be a terrific option on this team, but he's no franchise player either. He's got a Kobe mentality with a young Jason Terry skill set.
Stephen Jackson makes the most sense if he can be acquired for cheap. It's not just about talent or age. S-Jax is a tough and mean S.O.B. who would bring an edge and nastiness that's much needed on the team. That's also why I actually like Stevenson getting an opportunity right now. He might not be the most talented guy, but he'll compete and be an instigator out on the court. Mavs sometimes get in a lull where they're too friendly. Not that they're giving hugs and asking for autographs from opponents, but they're not mixing it up enough, sending nondescript elbows to opponents, fouling hard, grabbing shorts on picks and screens. Just acting nasty. That's as much a plus as any tangible basketball skills Stephen Jackson brings.
I still think they could get aggressive pursuing Andre Iguodala. Just don't know what it would take to get him. And I know Mavs fans hate the idea, but I still think the cheapest and easiest move they could make is get Vince Carter from Dallas. He won't cost much at all, and even if you think he's soft and a choker, he does upgrade the talent on the roster.
Number one would probably be taking Elton Brand with him. I'm fine with that tbh. Again, lots of idiot Mavs fans/media/etc talk about how that kills financial flexibility. I don't think any of them realize it's been a decade since the Mavs last had financial flexibility, why the is it such a priority now?
Besides, if they add a hard cap, a good number of teams (Mavs included) are fizzucked.
Mavs not being physical is hugely overstated. 2003 smack imho.
And stephen jackson may have brawled at the palace, but he's not some dirty player constanlty throwing elbows. He's tough in the sense that he'll shoot without conscience.
I still don't know how you're considered a knowledgeable poster...
I don't consider many of the players in the Mavs rotation having a "nasty demeanor." Being physical is not the same thing as being nasty.
My opinion of Stephen Jackson being a nasty player has nothing to do with the Palace brawl. I think he's tough and he does have a nasty streak. I think he's the type of player that will throw a subtle elbow or shoulder into a guy running through his pick. I think he will deliver a really hard foul. I think he would get into someone's face and talk . Being nasty doesn't require being physical, although sure they can coincide.
As for your last comment, you're more than en led to your opinion. I have never called myself a knowledgeable poster. If you don't think I am, I really don't have a problem with it. That's cool.
How can Mavs acquire Casspi and Mayo for late 1st round picks, this injuried Beubois guy and cash ? Tell me.
They're both on inexpensive contracts and aren't that hard to match in terms of financial value returning. It just depends if the other teams want to move either guy. Cheap talent should be appreciated.
Mark Cuban will wait and evaluate the team once Dirk and Roddy return
then will decide if a trade is necessary. Trade deadline is a long ways away boys.
Relax
mavs wont have homecourt in the playoffs if they wait that long, also carlistle said that roddy wont get guarenteed minutes, might as well trade him
It's cool. They blow at home anyway.
With Butler out that changes
If we want to get one of the Bobcats guys, we should just remind MJ that Kobe will tie his six championships if the Lakers win the thing again. That should get MJ's ridiculous ego going...maybe trick him into making a bad decision.![]()
Mavs would be nasty if they kept Bass tbh, he's ballin' this year.
And his knees are in terrific shape, to boot.
