Technically it was TPark, but you've never been one known for paying attention.

WTF I did nothing of the sort. I said I hoped neither side did. I hoped it WASN'T. Seriously....

One whacko doesn't represent a whole group.
I never said it did. I know not all people in the Tea Party movement are murders.

My problem is that the environment at Tea Part rallies was angry and that anger was USED by people and and not only allowed to grow but encouraged. I believe that to be a very dangerous act by many talking heads.

Even if this is not a politically related act I still view the above as a huge problem.

First off, this breaks my heart. My prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones.

Second, there are going to be major reprocussions from the federal govt's law enforcement agencies. "Never let an opportunity go to waste," someone once said. This is a chance for those with an agenda to "crack down" on the dissent, tea party, cons utionalists, libertarians, etc...they have been tracking these "radical" groups on terrorist watch lists, illegal taps, local fusion centers, etc. This is the fuse to ignite a full on crackdown...with or without legal cause.

The new terrorist threat is going to be sold as your next door neighbors with contempt for big government.

I agree, those people are nut cases. If it turns out that person was a nutcase in that vein, I think a discussion is necessary. But if turns out the person was merely a registered Democrat or Republican and had a political bumper sticker on their car, I dread the inevitable Newz Blitz by either side decrying the other as terrorists.
I agree with that. No matter what this doesn't mean all liberals are saints and all Conservatives are evil. My beef is not with the issues but rather the political use of anger to motivate large segments of the population for electoral gain because violent acts are sure to follow, IMO.

That was a shot at WC, since he calls everyone but wingnuts that. Besides, if that was the case then why did you lump Manny in, since his comment was much later?

I would hate to see someone try to regulate or criminalize rallies. That's a very dangerous slippery slope. I've been to 6 or 7 rallies and the anger was more at all of congress but there wasn't any talk of revolutions or any amamie stuff like that.

I'm shocked that Manny and Baseline would be the first to politicize this tragic event.
I'm pretty sure the gunman was the first.

    Tragic.

Hope this wasnt politically motivated and was just some isolated nut job who gets a few life sentences to think about what he has done.

If it was then I hope whatever group he was a part of gets taken down.

No one is saying to criminalize rallies. What the ? Rallies are already regulated, Tpark. I'm asking for people like Glen Beck and Mic e Bachman to be more responsible with what they say and how they motivate.

hate to break it to you, but the feel-good hope and change is bull .

Dissent is what preserves your freedoms.

Whatever happened to "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it?"

Wake up and stop buying into to the brainwashing.

Yeah, I hope it is some psycho as opposed to a sociopath with a political axe to grind. Still, Yonivore giving me PC for coming out and saying what everyone else was thinking was classic.

Six people were killed, and she was shot point blank. She was undoubtedly the target.
    My condolences to her family.

By the way she was one of the targeted people on Palin's website.
Which I found stupid because outside of being pro healthcare bill, if you didn't hear her say that you'd think she was a republican. She was very blue dog, and again meeting her this past October makes this more personal and sad. Great great woman.

One of the rallies I was at Glenn beck was there and he said if you react with violence you are not representative of our views. I've never heard one thing him say to attack.

Who said his motives were political?
There's a chance they were. It could be some kind of domestic issue. But outside of that, you typically don't see a congressional rep killed at point blank range at a planned political event for other reasons.

Maybe she hadn't paid her bookie though.

It appears to be a tragic, tragic event and the focus for the time being should be upon Representative Giffords' life (trying to save it if possible; mourning it, if saving it is not possible) and apprehending the shooter. If it turns out to be a politically-motivated attack, we'll have plenty of time to deal with the implications of that.

She was very pro border security, I'm praying one of the cartels or of that ilk isn't involved.
