Mavs are 24-5 with him and 2-5 without him.

Gotta be Dirk. I don't see anyone else winning it. Lebron and Wade have great numbers and the Heat have an excellent winning record but we all know neither is going to win it. Kobe's toasted, Duncan winning it is going to be a joke. Dwight doesn't score enough and the Knicks would need at least 55+ wins for Amar'e to have a serious case.

Congrats to the Diggler on his 2nd MVP.

Amar'e without a doubt. He turned the worst franchise of the decade around in one year and the future is only getting brighter. Dude is a beast.

Putting up career high numbers and emerged as the best power forward in the league.

Dwight is a DPOY not an MVP caliber player. He has far too many holes in the offensive end to win it. Voters are number crunchers, and Dwights 21 PPg is not going to cut it. Every MVP winner for the past 20 years has at least averaged above 25 PPG minus Steve Nash who won because of his great offensive production.

I want Lebron to win, and to be frank he should win it but the voters are have soured on him after his two bitter losses. If Wade can keep his scoring average of 30+ then I can see him taking the MVP but the law of average will kick in and he'll settle at 25-26ish to cap off the regular season.

Amar's is a Top 3 candidate but the Knicks needs a massive amount of win differential to get it, we're talking about 30 and above + wins. TBH, I can see the Knicks finishing at 51-52 wins, so its simply not enough to win it over other players with stronger cases.

Rose has a case, but he's Top 5 at best. If CP3 didnt win it in 2008 despite having one of the best statistical season ever as a PG (Yes better than Magic Johnson & Stockton's prime) then we can be safe to assume Rose entering his only third year is not going to win it.

    it is not that simple.

the cavs also lost o'neal and ilgauskas (together with Delonte West, Sebastian Telfair, Danny Green). both were old, but still big bodies to protect the paint.
in a conference with garnett, stoudemire, bosh and howard their loss hurts noticeably.

combine this with the loss of their main scorer and (only) creator in lebron james and you have a team like the cavs. a flawed, depleted and sub-standard roster, who struggles to win a game.

I never bought the Durant hype. Obviously another great scorer, but I find his game lacking to be considered a MVP. I said this last year but most people just shrugged and ignored it. I thought Russel WB was far more damaging in that Lakers series than Durant last season.

    Right now, I'd say it's:

    1. Dwight
    2. Dirk
    3. Amare

Dwight has shown some really good improvement this year offensively. And the win streak they've had since the trade really emphasizes that the success of the Magic is all about him. Both KG and Duncan won MVPs in seasons where they didn't average 25 points. That is not a requirement.

Dirk has been amazing, especially his scoring efficiency for a non-dunker. But like last season, his rebounding has become more average. Chandler perhaps takes some of those rebounds and Dirk doesn't crash the offensive boards much at all. But he's certainly back in the MVP conversation this season. He's been a stud in the fourth quarter too.

Amare deserves a lot of credit. A lot of people didn't think he'd make this kind of impact with the Knicks. And he's playing a little defense as well, blocking shots. The Knicks are on pace for about 50 wins. And while it's true that that's normally not enough for an MVP candidate, let's also remember that they're coming off a season where they only won 29 games. Amare is already in the MVP discussion. And how the Knicks play the rest of the way can make him a more justifiable candidate.

Dirk. I can't buy Howard as a true MVP candidate until he develops some playmaking abilities. He's still very weak passing out of double teams.

If anyone on the Heat were to win MVP it's Wade, imho. However, it won't be anyone on the Heat because there's to many individuals who deserve it more. Nobody has mentioned Rose and he has been beasting.

Dirk should win, but will not - it will be Amare due to the fact he plays for NY
