With both Boston, Lakers, and Spurs dwindling down to their last season or two, I started to wonder who's era this could be coming up. The obvious answer would be Lebron and the Heat, but honestly, Lebron is not a leader of men and will always defer to Wade when the going gets tough. He's proven that already. Wade is already 29 years old and into his 8th season, so he's already disqualified to claim an era named after him unless they run off like 5 straight.
After considering some of the other future stars, I've narrowed it down to three players.
The Rose era: He just needs a shooting guard and he's set.
The Durant era: I'm not sold on this kid, but with the right pieces, he could make some noise.
The Griffin era: All this kid needs to do is move down the hallway to the winning team and he's the clear cut favorite imho.
Sorry Bynum, Oden, and Splitta.
Let's take a look at some of the other leaders of era's and what it took for that era to be named after them.
The Mikan era: 5 les and hands down the best player of his era.
The Russell era: Maybe the third of fourth best player of his era, but those 11 les are hard to argue against. He was a flat out winner.
The Kareem era: Greatest center of all time. 6 les, and the most points scored, and the greatest shot ever invented.
The Magic era: The guy was so great that they gave a name to his era... Showtime. 5 les, the greatest PG of all time.
The Jordan era: The guy simply changed the game. The most versatile player to lace em up. 6 les, and would have had more if he had made the right decisions.
The Shaq era: As timvp would say; "God loves Shaq." The most physically gifted big man of his generation. Carried the Lakers to 3 les, then was a fundamental piece of Miami's first championship. Only god knows how many rings he would have right now if he wasn't lazy at times.
The Duncan era: I hate to admit it, cause my BFF's Giuseppe, Luva, and Koolaid will really be mad at me, but Duncan is the greatest power forward of all time, who lead his teams to 4 les. The Lakers biggest challenge to dethrone the defending champion. There should be alot of nervous Laker fans on here, cause the Spurs are legit.
Did I miss any players that could possibly claim this next era?
