Christ Told Them To Do It.
I'm thinking that if it had been one of their own members gunned down that they'd be crazy enough to picket that funeral as well.
That church is full of loonies... Fred Phelps.... pffffttt.
Someone should set fire to that church and then picket it and with signs saying.... "THANK GOD FOR ARSONISTS!"
They get more publicity from their plans to protest than they do from the protests themselves.
I honestly wish the media would stop reporting it... But that's probably not an option.
Agreed, agreed, and agreed again.
With all the talk about how the USA has failed the mental freaks community, we should start by rounding up members of that church and begin shock therapy immediately.
You can't do that just because somebody nominates unpopular or reprehensible views.
ing beautiful.
No, they're not . I know ; I throw .
These people aren't worth a .....
These nutjobs won't be able to picket the funerals. Thank goodness some common sense has prevailed!
PHOENIX — Arizona legislators quickly approved emergency legislation Tuesday to head off picketing by a Topeka, Kan., church near the funeral service for a 9-year-old girl who was killed during Saturday's shooting in Tucson.
Unanimous votes by the House and Senate cleared the way for the bill to go to Gov. Jan Brewer later Tuesday for her expected signature. It would take effect immediately.
..Without specifically mentioning the Tucson shooting, the proposed law would prohibit protests at or near funeral sites.
Good taste shouldn't be legislated by the government. Not that I wouldn't love to see Phelps get his ass beat for the garbage he pulls.
Much as I hate to say it, this law will be thrown out in the courts as a gross violation of the First Amendment. Phelps and his lawyers will probably get a restraining order to prevent this from being enforced.
No doubt the law is going to get tossed out as soon as it hits a courtroom. I guess the AZ legislature is betting/hoping that the kooks can't get the restraining order before the funeral takes place.
I heard that it's the same law Ohio passed and it's already held up in court once.
That's what I heard anyway.
Wow - you're right:
The bill is patterned after an Ohio law that establishes a 300-foot protection zone around a funeral location from one hour before the event until one hour after it. The Ohio law was recently upheld by the Sixth U.S. Court of Appeals, which made Arizona lawmakers confident their proposal is cons utional. That said, the Supremes have always been *very* hesitant to restrict speech in any way, shape, or form. Until this gets to them you just don't know.

They're not going to go, after all, but someone made them a deal that will let them spread their hate even further:
