The fact is, the Spurs didn't win because of threes, they won because Dallas allowed them to run a layup/dunk line for the better part of the game. Because of that, they hit a few threes, but they had no problems at all scoring AT THE RIM.

Stupid nonsense comment by Marion ! we played almost an entire Quarter with our THIRD squad. We were up by 22 or something at some point and we literally gave up attacking the rim.
So please Mr Marion, if you wanna find excuses, better find them first within your team perfomance.

    If, if, if . . .

If the Spurs didn't get all those threes . . .

If Bob Gibson wasn't so lucky -- he always pitched when the other team didn't get any runs.

If not for that, Ms. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

Unrealistic proposition really. When was the last game where the Spurs didn't make any 3 pointers? Has it even happened this season at all?

"Tonight they hit some threes and we were trying to run them off the threes. That’s what kept them in the game If you take those threes out of the game I think we win."

It's the "that's what kept them in the game" part of Marion's assessment that's baffling to me. It wasn't like the depleted Mavs were threatening to bust the game open in their favor when the Spurs made some 3s and hung around. The 3s in the second quarter were all about extending an already sizeable lead. The Spurs didn't need to be "kept in the game;" their 3s kept the Mavs from hanging around.

If you take away the 4 les the Spurs have, the Mavs are about as good as them too.

Facts are facts. Without the 3s, the Spurs are short 18 points.

Also, really, take away the 2 to 3 playoff wins in each of the Spurs-Suns series Marion was a part of, and the Suns would have probably won.

Probably -- they probably would have still found a way to leave the bench and get disqualified, though . . .
If the score was close in the 4th, Splitter and Quinn would not have been in the game.

There are too many variables to consider when you change one thing, you know, the butterfly effect.

    Not true.

The Mavs don't have Dirk and Caron right now so they aren't even a playoff level team.

As a Spurs fan, I've always appreciated players like Marion, Amare, Melo, JR Smith, and Kenyon Martin. There were times when it looked like the Spurs were in trouble and then one of these geniuses would save the day with a stupid foul, boneheaded turnover, technical foul, or ill-advised shot.

I've always pulled for Marion to hit a few early jump shots against the Spurs. It would get him confident enough to take shots when the game was on the line, and that was always a good thing for the Spurs. Best of all, he has three years left on his contract.

Sounds like Marion's learning well from the Terry school of excuses.

Gotta feel kinda sorry for Dirk...actually never mind since he's chosen to stay with those clowns.

True. And if you take away the Spurs' 3s, they're 18 points short on the board -- Mavs win by 6.

Not surprised. Marion is just very stupid. This is the guy who once ran in the wrong direction and almost dunked in the wrong basket.
