Lakers? Hornets?
By Marc Stein
The Dallas Mavericks continue to plan for the addition of former All-Star sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic early next week. But the trade to create a roster spot for Stojakovic, according to sources close to the talks, is in limbo after being placed on hold by the NBA.
Although the Mavericks and Raptors continue to express confidence that the trade sending little-used center Alexis Ajinca to Toronto will ultimately be approved next week, league officials spent Friday examining the deal for salary-cap compliance after complaints from a few unspecified teams postponed a trade call originally scheduled for Thursday night to ratify the deal......
The Mavericks and Raptors maintain that the deals involving Stojakovic and Ajinca were struck independently of each other, but the delay stems from what sources say are protests from a few contending teams that Dallas and Toronto arranged to couple the two transactions to swap Stojakovic for Ajinca, which would not be permissible under league rules. In the event that the league strikes down the proposed trade, Dallas would have to waive a player to create a roster spot for Stojakovic or perhaps find another trade destination for Ajinca......
The proposed deal with the Raptors calls for the Mavericks to send them Ajinca, cash considerations to cover the remainder of Ajinca's $1.5 million salary for the season and return a future second-round pick that Toronto had sent Dallas during the 2010 draft last June. In return, Dallas would receive the rights to 2007 second-round pick Georgios Printezis (who plays in Spain and is no longer considered an NBA prospect) and create trade exception equal to Ajinca's $1.5 millon salary along with the open roster spot needed to sign Stojakovic.....

Lakers? Hornets?
No... it would of the Camps if it was the Lakers. Were not contending for ... you all are trying to contend for our le. Get it correct, asshole
Dallas has 3 TE, already. 4,3mln for Carroll, 4 mln for someone, and 1mln for Ross. Dont think they need another one.
As much as it pains me to admit, Spurs have been notorious for submitting a complaint to the league office over, well, pettiness. Wouldn't surprise me if they were one of those "contending teams" ing...
I thought they were stacked![]()
It's not a big deal, teams have been pushing the envelope with the CBA since the day it was signed. Dallas got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, but they'll actually be better off if they just cut Ajinca rather than complete the proposed trade. They wouldn't care about any fine imposed and the strongest possible sanction, being barred from signing Peja, doesn't sound like much of a penalty anyway.
Our le? You didn't win , face.
They should examine their play. Currently losing to the lowly Nets. 39-32

They don't fall under the "Laker" clause.
Mavs
lol teams thinking peja would better off the mavs
Bull . Rasheed Wallace can be traded ten days later, and then Lindsey Hunter can re-sign with the Pistons ten days after that. The Lakers can trade Pau Gasol for peanuts which changed the Conference and the league while Memphis looks like a ridiculous team right now. These rules suck. Dallas and Toronto--go ahead and strike the deal together.
Stern is awesome.
Stupid. The Raptors do not have control over what Peja does once he is bought out. No matter what, he will be a Maverick if he wants to be. Dallas can just cut someone to make a roster spot.
The Spurs for years were the masters at manipulating the CBA and now they are whiners when someone else figures out how to do it. I am certain they are one of the teams complaining.
Even more funny after that Brent Barry trade-waived-signed back.
The same thing the league cancelled with Stackhouse...
Remember Brian Shaw being waived in 2002 and then re-signed with the team like a month later...
Also, Spurs traded Brent Barry only to see him be released and brought back
brent barry at least feigned interest for other teams and listened to their calls and offers. mavs make the trade, peja instantly released, and then instantly commits to the mavs. at least make it less obvious.
Yea everyone should just lie. Nice. You go stern...
