The problem with the comparison lies not within what Rush is, but in what he did.
Mocking a specific person's mannerisms is very different than mocking an entire country's language, regardless who's doing the mocking. That's why I think something like an SNL sketch makes a bad comparison, not because I think (for a moment) that Rush is anything resembling a journalist.
They're pretty much both premeditated. No difference at all.
Gee, I guess comedians and other actors shouldn't impersonate or play any ethnicity outside of their own from now on so all this strife will subsided.
