    Charley Rosen: NBA's Most Over/Underrated
    By Charley Rosen

    Underrated

DeJuan Blair deserves considerable credit for the Spurs remarkable success. He's always been a ferocious rebounder (especially on the offensive end) and has learned to play above-average defense. Moreover, the young man has developed an effective fall-back jumper in the lane.

    *********************

    The rest of the underrated:

    DeAndre Jordan
    Dwyane Wade
    Beno Udrih
    Delonte West
    Anthony Parker
    Nick Collison
    Tony Allen
    Lamar Odom

    *********************

    Overrated

    LeBron James
    Vince Carter
    Dwight Howard

    Kenyon Martin
    Danilo Gallinari
    Stephen Jackson

huh? maybe he is thinking of that little floater he's been using, although I wouldn't say that's very "effective" either.

I disagree about Howard as he has worked hard to improve his weaknesses and really no one controls a game defensively as much as he does and the Magic would fall off a cliff without him but the rest is spot on and Odom does deserve his acclaim - he has really been super for LAL this year.

Howard is fine. Only problem with him is his free throw shooting and the inability to go to him down the stretch because of it.

People used to say the same about Shaq. You're right, Howard is fine.

Absolutely ing awful list. Did that guy seriously say Wade is underrated? If you're going to put a shooting guard as underrated in this league, the only correct answer is Kevin Martin.

Vince ing Carter overrated? By who?

Maybe Howard is "overrated" because of the lack of quality centres in the league.

but I agree to an extent, his assist to TO ratio is terrible. Shaq could actually pass out of a double team.

umm Beno is only underrated because most people think hes . he's a little above .

and really Dwight Howard is overrated? he'll never be shaq or timmy but you can tell hes worked on his post game and shooting.

and hes the best C in the league by a wide wide margin.

Howard is on the list because away from the basket (read right under the basket) he's ineffective. I completely agree. He's an OK help defender but none of you who are on his can convince me that he's a good one on one defender.

    TY!

That's what I meant to say (first time I've ever seen a "fify" that actually fixed it).

Wade isn't underrated. People with mega commercials aren't underrated.

Rosen doesn't have a lot of Spurs fans, that's why I put his name in the thread le. Fair warning.

I think he may be slipping (but I didn't follow the link, so he very well could have used an unfavorable comparison ).

Even if Charley Rosen is super-opinionated and likes to pimp for winners, I like him because he is forthright in his criticism of prima donnas. He does not shy away from being a crusty old man that he is.

Clearly, you've never watched him play..

Dwight Howard is shooting 45% from jump shot this season, he has multiple post moves, his hook shot is pretty much unstoppable..his only flaw as an offensive player, other than FTs, is his poor passing ability..

As a defender, clearly you haven't watched him play..I guess Orlando has had the #1, #3 and #5 defenses in the NBA the last 3 years, due to their great perimeter defender, Jameer Nelson, Vince Carter, Hedo Turkoglu, Gilbert Arenas, JJ Red and others..

Rosen is an idiot..at least half the people on ST know more about basketball than he does..not to mention the fact that he's one of the most biased writers in all of sports..

Anyone see Blair go to his bread and butter tonight? The fall-back jumper in the lane...
