the problem is, he lives in a zoo and I don't know if he is the dominant male.
The best way for this to spread among gorillas is if he was in the wild and his troop copied him. The benefit of carrying things while walking on two legs is obvious, so they would be more successful and spread their habits....
I mean, it's possible that the rest of the gorilla's copy him in the zoo, and the zoo will end up with a group of newly adapted walking gorillas, but they have no need to copy him because there isn't much benefit. They have all they need to survive so it's not really a survival skill that they will copy...
