Not skilled enough to be considered a C? As if playing C involves more skill than PF.
Yeah, that was an odd comment. All one needs to do is look at a couple of rosters to see that the more technically "skilled" players are the ones manning the PF position.

    Liked what I saw.

All you look for in these assignments are that the guy's moving well and playing without fear. Between the transition dunk and the tipping back his own missed layup with a quick second jump, I'm very encouraged -- and he had absolutely no intention of playing any D or mixing it up all that much (something I'm sure were marching orders from Pop).

17 points in 16 minutes sound pretty good ... can't wait to have him back on the team and see if he continues to shoot a high % from three

It's not about whether he's "good enough", it's the fact that he's not mobile enough in most cases anymore.

Splitter, like a lot of C's today, was drafted as more of a PF. But in today's game, he's more of a C than a PF. He is mobile enough to guard a lot of PF's, though. Not skilled enough to be considered a C? As if playing C involves more skill than PF.

I think of the same thing when I think of a C. Duncan and Gasol are not true C's, but again, the way the game is played today, they're C's. The only reason Gasol doesn't play strictly C, like Duncan, is because he plays with one of the top few true C's in the league.

Yeah, that was an odd comment. All one needs to do is look at a couple of rosters to see that the more technically "skilled" players are the ones manning the PF position.
In today's game the line between PF and C is blurred certainly. Amare Stoudamire is a perfect example.
Traditionally, the center is exactly that . . . the focal point of the offense and the defensive anchor. When I say "skill" I am referring to the aspect of a position that works with the point to set up the plays and someone who the offense revolves around.
I didn't say Splitter wasn't "good enough". Nobody knows how good he will be right now. Splitter has shown flashes of those requirements (passing, defensive anchoring, etc.) but, in my opinion, he hasn't shown the full skill set (spacing, effective shot altering, running the offense, a solid offensive post game) that defines a true center.

He's only been ok, but the bar for backup point guards in the D-League is depressingly low. He's the third guy they've tried at that spot, and it looks like he'll stick for now. There is still a huge dropoff in the offense when Squeaky is out; they often play him alongside Beal.

He went to Sopot, as Mr. Consistency" or "Mr. Steadiness" , but neither of this I saw. He was completly unprepared to play basketball on higher level. He`s young, he has some sort of talent, maybe he just hit the wall, and now is trying to bounce back.

As far as I can, I will have eye on his development.

They just mentioned he had a stress fracture when he played at OSU, anyone know if it was the same foot?
It was on the other foot. There's an article on EN about this just after he got injured. I'll try to find

Thanks, I guess I failed to hear that when the injury news first came out, glad it isn't the same foot.

    Q&A with Spurs' James Anderson
    By Jeff Garcia

CEDAR PARK, TX - After appearing in six games for the San Antonio Spurs, rookie James Anderson suffered a right foot injury setting back a fantastic start to his NBA career.

After rehabbing his foot, the Spurs sent Anderson to their D-League affiliate, the Austin Toros, to begin getting back into game shape before heading back to the Spurs.

I caught up with Anderson, who finished with 17 points in limited action last night, before the tip-off of last night's Toros-New Mexico Thunderbirds game and we spoke about his Toros debut, how his foot is feeling and much more.

That is a nice little interview; a kind of James Anderson refresher/primer. The best part about his game to me was the energy and alertness Anderson talked about on the defensive end. I can't say it with the amount of personal knowledge Pop may have about Anderson, but JA is a guy who Poppovich would break out the "he gets it" line for.

The latest from Tim Griffin, on Wednesday:

I’m anticipating he will remain with the Toros through the weekend before rejoining the Spurs at the start of the Rodeo Road Trip Tuesday night in Portland, although he could return to the Spurs in time to play against Houston Saturday night at the AT&T Center.

Pop being Pop, I think he leaves him in Austin through the two weekend games, rather than pulling him back after 28 minutes of d-league game time to play NBA time this Saturday.

They played him 12 and 16 minutes his first two games, so maybe something like B2B 20s on Saturday and Sunday, a day off Monday, and Tuesday to Portland!

Agreed. I think he plays four games in Austin and then comes back in time for the road trip.
