I can't speak to Havoc but if there's ever any question as to whether poland or myself are being serious, safe bet we ain't.

    It's all in fun.

I do it for kicks and giggles.. As funny as you all make newbs out to be for duplicating and creating useless threads, it is the so called "common sense" and/or "vets" that allow for such parody to indulge others like us in laughter. For that I thank you.
It was a worthy thread. Wasn't laughing at you but the conversation.

Like I said, it's all in fun -- I should have started a new thread for this one.

Toros coach Brad Jones noted on Thursday night that Anderson seemed tired after an increase in minutes. While he will be available for tonight's game against the Rockets, the Spurs will likely start him off with about ten minutes of playing time and gradually reduce it every game.
    huh?

I'm surprised it hadn't happened already, tbh. I thought to start a new one when I got the news but decided against it -- thinking I'd be depriving someone of their ability to start a redundant, duplicate thread.
If it would appease you I could look into starting another one.

Might as well give some quick impressions of the game since I was there, even though we missed out on seeing Anderson:

-10 ing dollars to park a car at the Cedar Park Center? The At&t Center is cheaper. (Although I was able to park about 15 feet from the door.)

-Nice arena. Killer scoreboard/gamescreen for an arena that size (HD shaped)

-The shot clock buzzer seemed to be going off early every couple of minutes (and by early I mean 8-13 seconds early) but it didn't seem to phase the players or reset the actual clock. I guess it's not just players, refs and coaches that they are training up, but mascots, scoreboard operators, mc's, dancers, everything.

-The game got better as it went along. Overall impressions - the players just weren't on the same page defensively, especially in the first half. There were quite a few times where the lane was wide open and the TBirds got easy scores. Other times there was no defensive rotation / help defense in the post, which led to a lot of other TBird buckets.

-Towards the end of the fourth quarter the crowd finally got into it and the Toros seemed to pick up the defensive intensity - especially in their man to man coverage. Compared to the D'antoni style defense in the first half, the defensive stands at the end of the fourth and in OT were terrific. It was actually frustrating to watch - if they had played half as well in the first half they would have won this game by 15.

-Offensively it was a mixed bag. You can definitely see some of the Spurs sets, but there are weakness, especially the inability to feed the post. There were quite a few times where players were wide open under the basket but they just couldn't deliver the ball .

    A couple player notes:

Marcus Cousin has legit size and I like how mobile he is but somehow he made it to this level of basketball without being taught how to use his left hand. Half the moves around the basket that he makes - on both ends of the floor - are painful to watch because he can't make or block a shot left handed. And I don't mean he tried to shoot left handed and missed. I mean that he NEVER used his left hand. At all. The fact that he was still able to block a couple shots at the end of the game using his right hand while having to reach across his body to do it was impressive, but won't work at the next level. Offensively he missed a couple point blank shots because he wasted time shifting the ball to his right hand and allowed the defense to recover and get back on him. Again, he'll get killed wasting that much time on the NBA level. He was like a tennis player running around his backhand to hit a forehand shot. If I were the coach I would have him wear a sparring glove to practice on his right hand to force him to use his left. Given the lack of size on the Thunderbirds, Cousin should have rumbled for 30 and 15 with 8 blocks instead of 20 and 6 with 4 blocks. There were times on the pick and roll when he popped out for the jumper instead of rolling to the rim. Maybe it was by design but there were missed scoring opportunities there too.

Lance Thomas has promise, but they need to lock him in a gym for a summer with Chip England. His jumper wasn't pretty. But he's a definite glue guy - was on his feet cheering on the team, helping players get in the right sets from the sideline, communicated well on the court. Even addressed the crowd before the game. This guy is just impressive, and it's clear he's been coached well. He does the little things that don't show up in a box score. Also had some nice cuts to the rim and put up 18 and 13. If I'm the Spurs I'm watching this guy closely. Even if he never makes it to the NBA level as a player he's got the kind of spark that would be an asset to the organization in some other capacity.

Clinch, Palmer and Beal all had some nice moments. Palmer hit some clutch shots towards the end of the game and was perfect at the FT line.

I wish Squeaky Johnson was more assertive in running the team. Buy now he should know the playbook and I'd like to see him be a little more like Avery Johnson used to be on the court.

Overall, it was a nice time. As the Toros build a following there and the attendance bumps up it could be a great atmosphere for a game in that arena. I'll be back.
