Thanks for the link, Lee. I'll contact Intel to see what they have to say about it.
Manny, make sure you get an aftermarket cooler for your i5. They run pretty damn hot with the measly stock coolers put on by Intel.
Thats going to be pretty impossible because its in my laptop.![]()
Ah. Mobile procs are probably okay because they aren't nearly as power hungry as their desktop brethren.
Yeah my old Acer got much hotter than this one. My AMD in my desktop is a scorcher itself. Then again I've yet to really push this one very hard for very long.
I hit 70 degrees Celsius running Prime on my CPU with the stock cooler. Not good. I don't want temps above 60.
As cold as it is in DC use that baby to heat up your apt.![]()
Getting a PS3 would be the way to go for that.
Actually the case blows really cool air out of the system. Cold enough that I have to wear pants at times when gaming.![]()
Oh jesus please tell me you always wear pants while posting on Spurstalk.
Basketball shorts, usually. =P
Okay, so good news on the recall front:
The defect in the processor/mobo only affects the 3 GB/s SATA ports, and ONLY if you use them extensively. Obviously hard drives would trigger this problem since you use them constantly, however, I have my HDD and SSD hooked up to 6 GB/s SATA III ports, so this is a non-issue for them. I do have my DVD drives connected to the 3 GB/s, but I only use them lightly.. maybe a couple times a month at most, so the degradation should not affect them until 3-5 years down the road, and that's a worst case scenario. In all reality, I will probably never have a single problem with this issue.![]()
man the new SB +2500k are all in short supply down here...not that i be upgrading
They're being pulled from the shelves due to the defect. Most people aren't going to be buying 6 GB/s hard drives, because they don't need that kind of performance.
damn Cry Havoc that is a sweet build. congrats.
18.8 seconds to load? thats awesome
mine takes 34 seconds from power button to firefox, but yours cost 2x as much so it makes sense that its twice as fast
btw what does your fiance think about you splurging 1200 bucks on a desktop? did she want something too? :P
Early wedding gift from her to me.She's kind of awesome like that. She went with me to MLG DC too, to watch the Starcraft 2 MLG championships. Yeah, she got a new coach bag... don't ask me why, she's not really into that stuff, but it caught her eye.
did you end up putting ur rig together? what was the load time into windows?
ps. for those that still overclock, do you guys still sand ur cpu and HSF? or just leave it as it is?

It should get there as I pull into the driveway. I'll update when I get the chance.. My pc and new Black ops map pack.. happy happy joy joy
I think it's completely unnecessary at this point. A good heat sink should cool enough without being sanded.

In other news, my new keyboard and display are sitting at home. Cannot. Wait. Wish my boss would leave so I can bolt.![]()
How do you like Black Ops on PC? Is it appreciably better than WaW, or CoD4?
ah no man.. I didnt have a rig that would play it right... I may have to buy it though.. . My LT could only play MW1 on stick figure mode![]()
I sold my old system to a friend of mine, gave him a great price on it. He was running Starcraft 2 on his laptop with an integrated graphics card. Lowest settings possible. When he saw what "high" detail looked like, he flipped out.
i thought u work from home with ur internet business sellin swords online?? what happen to it? still need gay links to ur site to increase new potential market?
i think i need to buy a new table, might get some wood from local hardware store and make me own table and black gloss paint it all....could end up cheaper then buyin a table at some office store.
