Dude, I graduated Valedictorian and I'm about to graduate from UT, and they didn't give me anything near a full-ride. I got some assistance for being a Hispanic Merit scholar, and they pay your first year of tuition if you are #1, but if you think a "good university" is gonna give YOU money to go there, think again. Scholarships are for attracting students to go to your school that probably wouldn't go without it. UT, for example, doesn't need to do that to attract students; they're beating doors down trying to get in. And yes, I would consider UT to be a "good school."

DC=Dual credit. The course you take at your high school simultaneously gives you high school credit and credit at the local Junior College. Your grade is reported as an actual grade at the Community College and is treated like any other JC credit. The only issue is with where you plan to go to school. If you go to UT, the credit should transfer, but some out of state schools may not take the Junior College credit for some courses. My kid's school has some courses that are both DC and AP, so you get the Junior College credit but you are still prepared for the AP exam, so you have more options.
