Geez, what a mighty downfall for the cavaliers. Lebron leaves and the team snowballs from thereon into near NBA futility. Who would have thought?

With that said, say Kobe was put on this years cavs team, injuries notwithstanding. What happens?

Does Kobe duplicate the same success? Or does the display look like another pregasol Laker team (average team with Kobe chucking along)?

Kobe would fail just like Lebron did. Pieces weren't enough with Lebron
    wouldn't be enough with Kobe

I think the bigger question would be... why do you care?

That you put the Cavs downfall simply on losing Lebrons basketball skills already shows your agenda. The Cavs are in the spot they are because Bron held them hostage for 3 years before he finally did tuck tail and run. Add to that, the injuries as you noted, the loss of a coach and learning a new system, the loss of big Z etc and there obviously is more than just replacing Bron with Kobe.

    Nice try!

1st round exit at most and even that might be a stretch. Too much has happened to that team.

If all the players would be healthy then I think they make the Playoffs. With all the problems with injuries even Kobe can't save them.

you now you're in trouble when you're missing west's 8 ppg or ilgauskas's 7 ppg. btw, west, shaq, and ilgauskas all suffered injuries last season as well, keeping them out of around 20+ games each. lebron still managed to carry that team to the best record in the NBA. it's kind of weird how even then people underestimated the impact of lebron. now we know.

The Cavs would miss the playoffs, the way the Lakers did in 2005.

They could maybe make the playoffs in the East. Still, Kobe couldn't take Lamar Odom and Caron Butler to the playoffs in his prime, and now he's old and going to do much with Boobie Gibson and the last gasp of Antawn Jamison's career? Of course, the obvious answer is he'd miss the season unable to soldier through the debilitating injuries the media has constantly told us about the last 3 years or so.

What a load of horse . Ilgauskas is a scrub who the Cavs never missed much when he was in Washington. In fact, they were 13-4 in the time he was gone: a 63 win pace. And this year's team was in the ter long before Sideshow Bob and Williams got hurt. Having that hot streak at the beginning of the season where they were only pretty awful was a fluke.

This year's Cavs team is pretty bad. Shaq, Ilgauskas, Delonte individually weren't huge contributors last year, but losing all three collectively does make some difference. That said, no way in does a 32 year old Kobe carry the Cavs the way a 23-25 year old LeBron was able to do the last couple of seasons. LeBron is just way more physically capable of doing it then Kobe is now. But adding Kobe to the Cavs now would make them better, probably allow them to win some of the close losses they've had against bad teams and maybe on a good day where not only Kobe is playing well but a couple of guys are shooting the ball well, they could surprise a couple of average or slightly better average teams. In the Eastern Conference, adding Kobe to the Cavs I could see maybe 35-41 wins. Lol that might be enough for a 6th seed in the East.

Yep, Cobbler is right and weak troll attempt TBH ...i wont dignify this with a reply. Lebron, heat fans and San Antonio heat fans should be concerned with Boston not the Lakers or the sorry state of the Cavs ..

Jamison as a centrepiece of a team has never won. Then you're surrounding him with D league players, undrafted rookies, or players that can't speak english. Byron has nothing to work with at all. No-one can play D seeing Andy is out and I don't rate Boobie being better than average on defense. The team is historically bad. No perimeter player would save this team. It would take a prime TD, Shaq etc to make this team!

Playing with a star like Kobe or Lebron would give them great confidence but you know that players going to leave or about it as soon as he can.

Kobe would need Varejao and Big Z healthy too, I think they could pull 50+ wins. Kobe's just knows how to work with big men, take that as you will.

Better. Manu could play with anyone given his style of play. He's a much better playmaker than Kobe. Kobe is a better all around player then Manu, but Manu kicks his ass in playmaking ability. Imagine Manu running the show in LA with two great (sometimes, decent) bigs, Artest, L.O., and other decent players?

Crazy thing to think is the talent L.A. has hasn't helped them beat mediocre and upper echelon teams on any given night.

This "coasting" thing is bull . A team with that much talent wouldn't lose to the damn Kings..............at HOME.
