On the value of not trading Tony Parker
    by Timothy Varner
    48 Minutes of

Wayne Vore, the bald-headed honcho helming Spurs Planet, sent an email reminding me of why it’s best not to listen to offseason prognosticators.

    Thus spake Vorathustra:

Back before the [2010] draft [some] were claiming that reputable sources had the Spurs trading TP to the Pacers for the #9 pick and parts. One of those parts is about to get cut…

If the Spurs had made a trade for a draft pick it would have meant they were giving up on the season.

Now, go look at that draft board. Find me one player that could help the Spurs this season. You won’t find any. Not one. You won’t find one player on there that is better for the Spurs — this year — than Blair.

No team trying to win is trading a vet for a pick. None. Not one. You can’t win with rookies.

Since Parker has proved his worth to the team, it's only logical to trade him now.

His value will never be higher. Manu can run the team along with Hill. If you can get an Ariza or Hedo for him, you do it.

Don't think Orlando does that though.

Parker's current number of assists per game is unsustainable, since he's ultimately a ball hog who only cares about how many points he scores (plus, he won't pass the ball to Manu). Trade him and Eva to New York or LA, you know that's where they want to be anyway.

I say trade him, and have noone play point guard.

When we play small ball, we risk being overpowered by size; when we play size, we risk being outrun or mismatched by opposing small lineups. The problem is that we only ever play one or the other. The way to go, is to play both... AT THE SAME TIME.

Get rid of the center, get rid of the point guard. In fact, get rid of positions two and three as well. Nothing but small forwards, running the Spurs' new hybrid small/big ball. Smigball, for the win!

I would trade him for Steve Nash, a real PG.

The Spurs don't have any pressure to make trades. But the standings are a bit inflated as most of the games were at home.
