NCAA Clearinghouse Gestapo in full effect.
Whats up with Tevin Jackson? Is he gonna get on the field this year?
NCAA Clearinghouse Gestapo in full effect.
The Aggies followed up the Alexander commitment with commits from 2 more Brenham prospects. Troy Green and Adrian Bellard have followed anderson and committed for 2012. We just need Malcolm Brown and Tim Cole to get the "Brenham 4"
What is this the A&M recuiting topic?
jk
A&M seems to have brenham in its grasp
just sharing info since we are pretty much fighting over the same prospects most of the time. Looks like Shermans strategy is working in Brenham. I know the 4 kids wanted to play together in college so hopefully that works out.
We really need a good start to 2012 after a down year in 2011 recruiting.
Sorry I'm late to the National Signing Day party, fellas. It's been a weird morning with ice, power outages, etc. Here's a summary of things in addition to what's been said above (thanks to Designated T and Whisky):
*All Letters of Intent for the 2011 Texas Longhorns have been signed, sealed and delivered. Major props to Mack Brown, Bruce Chambers, Major Applewhite and Oscar Giles for keeping this class together despite such significant turnover in staff. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it at a major program since I've followed college football. Hopefully that's a sign of good things to come. The class sits at 22 with hopes of adding a 23rd later today when 2011 DE Jermauria Rasco makes his decision at 2:00 p.m. (it's a longshot).
*2011 DE Brandon Alexander signed his Letter of Intent with Texas A&M this morning, so that one is officially in the books. The additional bad news out of Brenham last night was two of their 2012 prospects also gave their commitment to the Aggies. 2012 OL Adrian Bellard and 2012 ATH Troy Green called the A&M staff last night to inform them of their decision. It's not the commitment of these two prospects that should worry Texas Longhorn fans, but how their decision affects the thinking of 2012 DT Malcom Brown and 2012 LB Tim Cole. These guys have grown up together and talked about going to the same college for a long time. While Texas is only seriously pursuing Cole and Brown, one has to think this influences their decision. It can't be stressed enough how important the first Texas Junior Day will be for those two recruits. Hopefully they won't commit before next weekend.
*Apparently UT has been in contact with a kicker recently. 2011 K Ben Pruitt of the The Woodlands has been offered preferred walk-on status by the Longhorns. This simply means that he'll be on the team without having a scholarship. Unlike other walk-ons, he'll be priority when a scholarship opens up.
I wouldn't consider 2012 QB Connor Brewer a true dual-threat, but he's shown he can get out of the pocket and gain good yardage. He's definitely the best overall QB prospect Texas is interested in. Watch the highlight tape I posted if you haven't seen it yet. He has some good runs. It'll be interesting to see how Texas pursues 2012 QB Matt Davis (if at all). Him tearing his ACL earlier this season didn't allow for UT's staff to evaluate his progress as a passer. If offers don't go out to Brewer or 2012 QB Trevor Knight at Junior Days, it's a good indication that the UT staff will likely wait so they can evaluate all three prospects in the Spring.
There have been several arguments for what's going on there. Some say the NCAA is drawing out the process and others believe it's Jackson's problem as he has yet to complete a course in order to fill out his high school transcript. There hasn't been a lot of movement reported and most don't expect him to get to UT anytime soon.

from the DNM
Big get for Texas Tech, who just received a commitment from four-star Pennsylvania DE Branden Jackson. The Red Raiders have definitely had the most eventful day of the local teams so far. They've reeled in 3 big out-of-state recruits today, with Jackson, fellow Pennsylvanian Desimon Green and Mississippi's Leon Mackey. They also got longtime OU commitment Cooper Washington to switch and sign with them
Looks like Tech is having a big day. Tubbs sure does know how to recruit
What was Westerman thinking going Auburn along with the monster like Cyrus Kouandjio? I guess they could bookend end these 2, but westerman definatly would have gotten a better chance at PT with UT. oh well
2011 DE Jermauria Rasco has committed to LSU.
Some think Westerman actually projects better as an interior lineman. It'll all just depend upon what kind of system he's in and how he develops physically. Auburn killed it this year with their OL prospects. They're just cherry-picking right now.
Ya, I guess you can never have enough lineman..Thanks for the updates also by the way and when is brown supposed to sign?
Which Brown? Malcolm Brown of Cibolo Steele? He's a done deal, partner. Texas signed everyone this morning.
Ya, Malcom..Any other players left unsigned that UT is still going after?
Nope, that about does it. If you scroll up a few posts I talked about a kicker out of The Woodlands that Texas is interested in taking as a walk-on. All efforts are now focused on the 2012 class as the new staff is already behind on some prospects because of the high turnover in the offseason. We'll wrap up this thread soon and start another dedicated to that class. I'm going to work on it tonight.
If you guys want to have a laugh look at this

Looks like we landed Raven which helps.
I'm surprised Texas was able to hang on to so many of their recruits after a bad year and so many assistants being fired/leaving.
Hypothetically if Texas were to have a 2nd dismal or lackluster season this coming year would they begin to feel the effects on recruiting then, or is Brown such dang good recruiter it doesn't matter?

Haha nice tie joe.
Good work Tfloss and crew. I guess we can wrap up this topic and move on to a new one soon.
Hook em
i think berg is going to be a beast. brown im really hopeful for, but i have no idea how much potential he has left to grow into.
that said, great class with skill players :hook'em
hopefully we can find some o-linemen, but UT has never had a problem filling in those roles. heres to a great year.
brown is an incredible UT "politician" of sorts. he's a great recruiter that is really laxed and fun to talk to in person. on the administrative side, he's incredibly hard-nosed. he's loyal (see greg davis), so coaches will respect his authority for the most part. i think with the UT network and a fresh coaching staff, another lackluster season (which is def still possible this upcoming year) won't hurt the program at all.
back when i went to football camps, i remember coach brown would be there at all the practices and speak with us afterwards. usually he'd follow up with a Q&A session. the other coaches were there as well. applewhite would throw us balls during drills and whatnot. it was really surreal.
on the other hand, when i went to TCU and A&M's camps with fran in charge, the coaches would often only speak with the players they were trying to recruit. fran wouldn't talk to anyone and show up every now and then driving around in his golfcart.

Just a heads up that I'm working on the 2012 thread. I'll have it up by Friday evening. The coaches have been waist deep in the the 2012 recruiting race since the 2011 class signed yesterday. More info to come.
Here's a link to the final Rivals rankings for each team based on the recruits they signed. They'll change a tad bit since certain recruits have yet to decide where they're going to school. Texas will have a Top 5 class no matter what. They're currently sitting at #3 overall even though they're #2 based on individual recruits with an average of 3.77 stars per prospect.

Good job to keep a nice class together. 2012 big need is OT with what looks like a good and fairly deep OL class for 2012.
Thanks for the updates, TFloss.
No problem, Whisky. Thanks for your contributions as well. I'll have the 2012 stuff up today.
