I think sometimes you turn something on you expect that you or other people might be offended by what you see, comedy shows for example. However, when I turn on Top Gear I really just expect to learn about cars, see cars from different places, or incredibly expensive cars your average Joe wouldn't see every day, or see a sports car racing a military attack helicopter.

What I don't expect when I turn on Top Gear is to be offended and insulted. I think it's pretty lame.
You don't know what the Top Gear is about then tbh, they make those "offensive" jokes all the time. Sure it has plenty of stuff involving cars but its also about 3 dudes talking , having fun, and being politically incorrect. They go Don Rickles on everyone including eachother and their own countrymen and women. the Mexicans weren't even the only ones to get flak in that episode, wheres the outrage when the visiting Australians were transported in a police truck and thats just the tip of the insult iceberg against the Aussies.

And it seems to get Top Gear a ton of attention and probably ratings as well. They've offended countless groups (fellow UKers, French, Germans, Koreans, Cubans, Aussies, environmentalists, feminists, especially Americans, etc) and its part of what makes them great; they take a on those that take themselves way too seriously.

Just because they give to everyone doesn't make it ok.

They crossed the line and should get for it.

Disagreed. It'd be like getting offended by Don Rickles. Here's a thread with 23 pages thats about the various people Top Gear has offended over the years:

They cross whatever line you're thinking of all the time including insult jokes thrown at eachother and fellow UKers. You don't see the Australian ambassador getting his dingo in a bunch over that episode's stereotypes and insult jokes about them.

Tbh whenever someone gets offended and generates press for Top Gear...Top Gear wins.

    Someone gets it.

no one gave a when dave chapell (and countless others before him) was doing it either.

People need to learn to laugh at themselves.

The only thing I can add is that I've heard the UK version is great, I've only seen the US version and have never seen anything like what you mentioned.

I watch Top Gear UK all the time. No one is safe from them, they make fun of everyone including themselves. It's called humor! Screw that PC crap.

Remember when they went down South and painted each others cars to see who would live the longest, and got threatened by some countryfolk? That episode was awesome.

I'd like to see those old sacks say that out in the hood, I promise they wouldn't survive that and if they did they'd wish they hadn't. But it's cool, they don't deserve to enjoy quality mexican food or quality mexican head after meals.

Earlier, fellow presenter James May joked that he couldn't remember the name of the car but suggested it should be called the "Tortilla." He then described Mexican food as "refried sick."
What's hilarious is the English criticizing Mexican food. English food has to be some of the worst food on the planet as a whole.

If you can't stop the drug cartels from running your police and killing your citizens you can at least express your extreme outrage over some idiots rehashing decades old mexican stereotypes. Awesome.
