don't look now but in the past 5 games Jefferson is shooting 64% from the field and 52% from 3 pt range.
keep it up!![]()
But I thought he wasn't any better than he was last year? At least thats what the threads here had been saying lately..
check his stats before those 5 games for 10 games
hope he gets could 2 weeks before playoffs and hot for 3 weeks along with neal, blair and splitter, hill
He looks like he's coming out of his slump. Good to see. Let's hope he's in this place as the playoffs start.
...and check 's first 20 games, lol
yes and badabaabaabaaa im lovin' it
RJ is one of the biggest differences this year. Couldn't be happier; last year everyone everyone had written him off.
I remember an interview last year...there was lots of talk of RJ getting traded, and he was asked about it. His answer was interesting. He said that Pop was still screaming at him, and that you only have to worry when he stops screaming at you.
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursna...-wasnt-sprung/•Richard Jefferson’s recent scoring binge continued for another game as he scored 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting and 3-for-5 from behind the 3-point arc. It was his fifth consecutive double-figure scoring game — his longest since six double-figure games between Dec. 15 and Dec. 23. During Jefferson recent surge, he’s hitting 63.8 percent from the field, 52.2 percent from 3-point range, 100 percent from the foul line and averaging 15.2 points per game.
RJ stepped up immediately as our bench got a little thin and when Neal was hurt a bit. He played great the last games, its not only his 3 point shot, but the mid-range jump shot is money as well. Keep it up ...
I thought j was descent last season, he was up and down due to being new to the system. He was already much better in the second half of last year, and I was sure he'd improve over the summer, but not as much as he has, tbh. The most impressive thing, is how clutch he has been all year. Those 3 triples in a minute span during the fourth quarter against phoenix, were ing crazy!!!
Good job RJ
People get too wrapped up in a hot or cold streak. The fact is that we are 5/8ths of the way through the season, and he's shooting his fourth best ever FG%, and best ever 3G%, and that cannot be denied or spun. Fifty games is not a fluke or a streak. It's real.
I also love the fact that his shooting percentage average is much higher in the fourth quarter!
keep this goin into the playoffs RJ.....
The Proof Is In The Playoff Pudding
He's been to the Finals twice, but it's been 7 years.
This learning the system thing is stupid, especially offensively...he's not doing anything different other than hitting the jumpshots/3s he wasnt hitting last yr. Knowledge of the system isnt the reason he's been so much better, its the fact that its apparent he put in serious time in the summer working on his shot.
He still needs to attack the basket more, thats how he made a name for himself in the league...now that part of his game is non-existant. He could be that much more of an asset if he attacked the basket occasionally. How many people were simply hoping for a good spot-up shooter when we first aquired RJ ??
RJ was huge in money time last year against Dallas.
Should be even better this year.
It's more a comfort level thing. Pop did say that they threw out about 40% of the playbook last year to accommodate RJ and Dice. He knows the playbook better and more of it, and he has a better feel of what to do. He also doesn't freeze like a bunny in the headlights any more. He either sizes up the jump shot and takes it, drives, or passes around the horn.
It wasn't just learning a new system is was learning a new style of playing the game. From going to a fast breaking speed to a slow paced pass the ball around game style. That was what was hard for him to learn how to play Spurs half court style of ball.
I do agree that I would love for him to drive a little bit more but his ball handling is not that great. So I will take his hard defense and three pointers from the side pocket.

Mike Monroe
...“Richard did a good job of doing what he did at the beginning of the year: Catch it and let it go,” Popovich said. “No thinking. Let it fly or drive it. There’s no hesitation at all, and that’s what he did, and it’s nice to see. He’s playing real aggressively and doing a good job.”
Jefferson said he made no conscious decision to shoot more quickly. His recent improvement, he said, derives from the natural ebb and flow of the season.
“It’s a long season, so you’re going to have that 20- or 30-game stretch where you’re feeling good and feel like you can’t miss,” he said. “Then you’re going to have a stretch where you can’t make layups and your free throw is a little off.
“It’s a matter of being consistent with your work habits and staying confident.”
His efficiency has been much better all year, as a whole. For the most part, when he hasn't scored, it was because he wasn't shooting much. He's been valuable all year.
RJ is hitting shots. He could be playing the exact sets, making the exact moves, but missing shots and suddenly he's . It's all about making shots.
