Is that the one that said "the GM worker does this" "the GM worker does that"?
The GroupOn ad was hilarious in a "wow, that's in really poor taste" sort of way. Only losers get offended by commercials thoughIf you were that moved, write a check and send it to the monks.
All of the commercials were lame.
Is that the one that said "the GM worker does this" "the GM worker does that"?
Yep "Tiny Dancer" was a good one![]()
Karl Hungus!
Yeah I think it was the Chrysler ad that talked up GM.
Awesome!
Made me proud to be a member of Southeastern Detroit
This was indeed a nice commercial.
I also liked the volkswagen ones
As resident of SE Michigan, the son of a UAW skilled tradesmen and being an automotive supplier that just left Chrysler Technical Center less than an hour ago, yeah, I'll admit, made me proud.
Is it just me, or was this a terrible advert and would make me avoid HEB?
Well, thats not exactly hard i'll admit - as i'm not even in america, let alone texas.
The appeal was lost on me, as well. I thought the song was pretty bad.
It was one of those Texas pride type commercials...like Whataburger...Dairy Queen...Ford Truck types...
I kept thinking to my self, "are those people in the dance halls really dancing to a song about HEB?"
WTF???![]()
I don't even remember that commercial being played.
Come on...you mean to tell me you don't jam out to a song about your local food store on a daily basis...
I don't know what's so hard to believe about that; I mean we know cowboys in the Old West saloons sang rousing renditions of Elton John songs, right? Makes perfect sense![]()
Uh oh, Marini. You hit a sore spot![]()
Just in case anyone was curious about the other two. FWIW it looks like the Hutton one was the one mostly likely to ruffle the most feathers. I actually chuckled a little at the other ones. Maybe it's just from years of getting hit with celebrity enviro-PSAs the idea of celebs just shrugging it off and cashing in seems like a funny enough idea. Human suffering in Tibet? Just a little too far over the line for me to laugh at that. I'll give this much to the folks at Groupon that ad with Tim Hutton is still running so props to them for having the guts to own their tastelessness in all its glory. Whether or not all that notoriety actually helps them or hurts them remains to be seen but it's almost refreshing to see a company not immediately yank an ad the second that there's an outcry.
Believe it or not, I'm pretty selective about the tunes I jam out too. And I like Jack Ingram and all that, but I'd have to be three sheets to the wind to be two-stepping to a HEB commercial at Gruene Hall, TBH.
The years and drugs have not been kind to Marshall Mathers...I liked the GM one and the beetle one was pretty decent.
