currently Manu's shooting a terrible 35% from the field and only 23% from 3 on the Rodeo Road Trip. on top of that he's 0-8 in the last 2 games from 3 pt range.

some of his shots are wide open while some of them are just terrible shot selections. thoughts?

    get it together Manu!

Manu is in a slump, but it's good to see he is still shooting and not being passive. Only way to get out of it tbh.

Would like him to tone down the really bad selections though.

No, taking even more bad shots is not the only way to get out of it. Being aggressive is not an end in itself - He needs to stop with the wild jumpers and take more high percentage shots.

For one-dimensional shooters like Ray Allen, shooting your way out of a slump might be the only way to reverse things. But Manu has a more diverse game and there are other ways he can still be aggressive without being such an ineffective chucker. Bottom line - he's not playing smart.

I'm ok that it's February... I'll be worried if he hits this slump during April...

And I couldn't disagree more with the "he's not playing smart" take. He's actually dishing out assists at a career-high rate. When your shot is not falling, the best you can do is find the open guy and put them in a position to score.

He might not be "shooting smart", ie: his shot selection might have been somewhat iffy, but that's a far cry from trying to shoot his way out of it, or not playing smart ball.

When Manu is struggling its easy to pull the he's not playing "smart" card due to the fact that Manu takes a great deal of unorthodox shots that aren't normally "smart" shots. When he's off it looks like he's playing bad, but when he's on no one notices that those are the same shots.

Who thought Manu would keep the same level and intesity the whole year (regular season) !!???

this slump is/was predictable on a 82 games journey...

Very true. But when he's hitting them, he usually looks healthier, there's an extra bounce to his step. He just seems like he needs a break and yet continues to take some tough ass shots without the proper amount of energy behind. At least thats what it seems like to me. He needs some rest and to build back the confidence I hope he takes more closer shots, drive the lane more, if he gets his energy.

Even while shooting close or driving the lane, he does real unorthodox , but the paint is his game. When everything is failing, you gotta go to the bread and butter.

Agreed, yet it's not his first slump.

Since the initial parts of the season, he cooled down and has slumped a good amount in my opinion.

Since the initial parts of the season, he cooled down and has slumped a good amount in my opinion.

One of the reasons may be the fact that he is a starter for the 1st time!

He was used to "come and execute" and now has more time, maybe (unconsciously) he thinks he has more oportunities ... to fail!

For example, most of his 3s used to be open ones or ones he took by creating the space.
Now he takes the shot even with 2 hands on his face...

Anyway, I'm not (yet) worried about him, I think that there probably aren't enough subjects to complain about this year and ST has to stay awake...

My BB culture is limited (in time), so maybe some posters with strong knowledge of the history of the NBA could tell us if there has ever been a more balanced team, in term of talent AND playing time...

My only concern is the 3pts shot efficiency during the PO...
Particularly Bonner ()and we don't know Neal in PO situations...

I keep saying it: A great player who misses shots is a ty player. It doesn't matter how good you move, how open you get, how good you run the pick and roll... if you miss the shot you are worthless to fans. Defense means nothing in the "slump" category.

coaches said spurs had to have two players on roster since great record
removed manu scored late and voted for him

the first 42 minutes of the game are more important then the last 6

even though most casually fans do not grasp that concept

It's an 82 game season. EVERY player slumps at some point.

ASB is next week, he'll find his form again after a bit of a rest.

    Nothing to see here.

It's gonna be great to watch Manu and Lebron on the ASG, don't you agree?

tbh, the top seed in the west is still up for grabs. We have a good lead, but you don't want to take the foot off the gas yet. With 30 games or so to go, a 7 game advantage is not insurmountable.
Seeing how different players like Hill play on the road vs home, you want that HCA locked up ASAP. There's no problem resting them after that.

    The only mention of it.

..."I’m a little banged up,” said Ginobili, who played with a padded black sleeve on his left bicep to protect a recurring bruise. “Aches and pains. Nothing that threatens the season, but they add up, and I needed a rest.”

    Not really!

Manu was a starter all season long during the 2004-05 championship campaign. He was the 6th man during the 1st Rd playoff series against Denver that season though.

In fact, Manu started 261 games prior to this season that inlcude the monumental second half of the last season.

Manu needing a rest is not surprising to any of us I'm sure. We wouldn't be here without him. He is a fierce compe or that knows how to win. You better know it!

For the first time since the 261 games he started prior to this season, right?
