I think its safe to guess that in some ME countries, an uncovered woman is guilty of her own rape for tempting the men around her in her state of "undress".
Are you saying that should be the case, or that might be the case in those countries?

But, she wants to play in the big leagues of the media world, you have to know the risks. Egypt is not Afghanistan, but it isnt Western either.
I think Egypt is more modernized than a good deal of the ME though.

Agreed on all points. Im sorry, but I will not apologize for generalizing Middle Eastern culture. Women just do not rank in their society. Especially women who do not conform to their cultural standards. I think its safe to guess that in some ME countries, an uncovered woman is guilty of her own rape for tempting the men around her in her state of "undress".

But, she wants to play in the big leagues of the media world, you have to know the risks. Egypt is not Afghanistan, but it isnt Western either.

And, if she was Muslim under Sharia, she'd be punished for being the victim of rape. By the way, no need to apologize for the behavior of primitive, backward-assed societies.

Women were legal chattels of a sort until the early 1970's in Texas. I think it's safe to say Texans still joke about women being responsible for rape.

Did anyone say that reported that got shot in the war a couple years back wasn't culpable at some point?

Yeah, if she wasn't wearing a burqa then that's a bit negligent on her part. And I'm just commenting on her not wearing the burqa here. I've seen many news stories and do entaries where the woman reporter is always wearing one.

Oh what horrible hypocrites we are for not continuing to whine about Michael Ware getting shot undeservedly in the head in a war zone and surviving.

Journalists are targets in a war zone. Women, everywhere.

No, I do not think it should be that way. No ing way.

All I was saying is that it is that way in some Middle Eastern countries.

I think Egypt is more modernized than a good deal of the ME though.
...and I know that, but theyre still not Western by any stretch of the imagination.

They are still very much a traditionally Muslim country that has women as a second class citizen required to be dressed in a certain manner. I fully realize they are not a country that would punish a woman for being raped (like Afghanistan, for example).

But I would assume they are a typical ME country in that a rapist of a woman in a state of "undress" (by their standards) in public (ie not wearing a burqa) would not be punished very harshly (by our standards). To be more clear and to even possibly crumble my whole argument, the offender may serve some short jailtime and probation.

Thats just the way it is in the ME and only a very small example of some the insurmountable cultural differences between us and them.

Egypt is a culturally advanced country...only when compared to other ME countries. Which, IMO, isnt saying much.

I check the club daily, but seldom delve in depth. I'm slightly familiar with Trainwreck.

That's contrary to the reports posted here so far. What's your source on that?

The separation and assault lasted for roughly 20 to 30 minutes, said a person familiar with the matter, who added that it was "not a rape." A CBS News spokesman declined to comment beyond the statement.
This is what I meant when I posted that "sexual assault" has a broad definition. It could have been a dude sticking his pee pee out, guys slapping her ass, kissing her...not neccessarily rape (not that it's not still disgusting, but CBS is feeding into people's imaginations with their story of the events - which is why I think they're up to something). Thanks for the link!

Ms. Logan was released from the hospital today -- five days after the "not a rape" attack on her.
