Yeah, I saw that stat similar to that a week or so ago. I hate it, though.

If SA wins, then "meh. It was to be expected", but if they lose, all breaks loose. It's akin to going into a game playing a team missing one or two of their star players...

    lol what?

    meh????

I'll be partying for about 2 straight weeks if spurs win

imagine this would be the toughest road, going through 2 peat lakers, 60 win mavs, and lebron/wade or 60 win celtics.

    crazy

I am a doubter that you know what the you are talking about. The Spurs are 46-10.

Best regular season record has a poor history of winning the Finals. How's that jive with the BSPN "oh yeah" stats?

Winning teams have to have some good fortune along the way. If the Mavs were eliminated by another team, the Spurs might get a 5 and rest series out of it. That could give the Spurs the time they need to gear up for the next series. The Lakers could be pushed to the limit or be ousted early as well.

It would be hard, and most teams haven't had to do it, to go through the best teams in your conference on the road to the ring. That's why seeding is so important.

Did anyone outside San Antonio predict a Spurs championship at this point in any year they won?

    No.

    Still, no guarantees.

lol it's not expected at all..not even trolling when i say this, but outside of SA no one expects them to win..they're like 5th in the list of contenders real talk. i'd be surprised as if you guys won it all
No, so would I, but given the current regular season record and THAT specific stat, some COULD argue that history dictated such an outcome.

agree about if Spurs win all non spurs fans will be like meh.

but that is true for any team winning it. non fans always like meh whatever

that is the main problem with the NBA. winning a championship doesn't really mean much.

Yeah, no, I agree. Again, I was simply arguing that that particular stat makes me uneasy, not that people outside of SA will/won't care if the Spurs take it.

I see. you mean because of the pressure. With Pop at the helm I don't see any issue with that.

He even said yesterday, he does not care for fancy records. It's the championship he cares about.

As for the record, it's nice and I think homecourt will be critical for a matchup against LA, Boston, or Dallas, but there's not a lot of difference between winning 57 and winning 67 IMO. The 09 Lakers, 07 Mavs, 06 Pistons, 06 Spurs, 00 Lakers, 98 Jazz... these teams all looked pretty mortal in the playoffs despite crazy regular seasons.

Pretty sure the Mavs were 45-9 at one point during the '07 season.

Any team in the playoffs out West has to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a 7 game series before asking themselves can I win it all yet. They are still the defending NBA champs and are going for a 3peat, they will not just fold for any team. The Spurs have an amazing record going into the all-star break at 46-10, but they have to finish the second half of the season strong and try and secure homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. I know the Lakers haven't played up to expectations so far but when the playoffs roll around they will turn it on. As for the East playoffs, it's shaping up to be a huge battle of the ans. The four best being Miami, Boston, Orlando, Chicago, man that's alot of strong teams to get through to make it to the NBA finals.
