Melo drama?
The trade deadline is in in 3 days (Thursday at 3pm ET). I guess it's time to talk about it.
Right now, the Melo drama is off course the biggest item of this trade deadline.
It should be very quiet on Spurs front with no trade at all or a minor one.
Is this where we start the annual "Camby would look great in a Spurs jersey" convo?
Minor one, meaning our 2011 1st round pick for a couple of 2nds from say New York?
Would love to get a good SF defensive player if possible as long as we don't give up much like say Quinn.
Barkley saying Chicago needs to trade for a shooter.
Something tells me this will be the least discussed trade deadline (at least Spurs-wise) in recent memory...
I wonder if the Wizards would be willing to part with the dude in the slam dunk contest. I have absolutely no idea of his skill level but he certainly has the tools to be a great defender.
What would we be willing to give up ?
The Spurs won`t make a trade (duh)
Manu for Melo, would you do it?
Really, what are the needs?
1. A strong perimeter defender.
2. A big 5?
3. A backup point guard?
What is out there?
1. It definitely can't be anyone high-priced like Iguodala. Maybe a guy like Mbah a Moute.
2. Anyone better than Splitter, for whom they already can't find minutes?
3. Again, no realistic name springs to mind.
And what are they willing to give up?
If they aren't willing to talk Hill or Blair (or possibly Anderson), nobody's listening.
So yeah, there aren't a lot of 210 trade calls going on.

Sources say NJ in talks w/Den to send 2 1st round picks to Den for Mozgov & either Gallinari, Chandler or Felton, if Melo traded to NYK

Wondering if Dallas is going to make a move to bolster their roster since Butler isn't coming back this season (seemingly)
Minor as I don't think Spurs will trade one of Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, RJ, Blair, Neal, Hill, Dice, Bonner, Splitter and Anderson. It only remains Quinn, draft picks, rights to Euros and Cash. Spurs won't go far with that and it's far from sure that they are even interested to add another quality player given their huge depth.
The only case I see Spurs looking for a player is if they aren't confident about Anderson able to be back at a good level this year. Otherwise, Spurs' FO activity at the deadline could just be to wait behind the phone for a no-brainer offer.
Realistically, there aren't any players that are available for the Spurs to pursue..the current roster may not ultimately be enough to win the le, but it's certainly enough to put them in contention, it's all up to whether they peak at the correct time..
A perimeter defender would be nice, but at whose expense?..the Spurs already have enough perimeter players..there aren't any perimeter defenders that can provide enough offense to fit this style, anyways, IMO..
A big man is pointless, since Splitter was just starting to show flashes of potential before he got hurt, and even he struggles to find PT..
The main focus for the Spurs at the deadline, will be the potential moves from their compe ion, primarily Dallas and LA..
The Lakers won't make any big moves IMO(in the sense, that they will move Bynum or Odom), but there's a chance that they can make a move to acquire the outside shooter that they desperately need, or maybe another big men for depth..
The Mavs are always a wildcard at the deadline, and they could make a move for a #2 option, although I wouldn't bet on it..
why would they? they practically have Isiah Thomas coming from the bench

I read somewhere Rasual Butler isn't getting playing time with the Clippers and might be traded. Would be nice to have one more SF/Shooter/defender; but other than that don't see much being done.
Gerald Wallace was reading that book with Timmy at Christmas...
Doesn't McDyess have a $4M trade kicker? Would Charlotte want to take on that?
That would be so awesome. A first rounder from a top 2 team seeding wise isn't very appealing to a rebuilding team though.
I was the conductor on the Rasual Butler train this offseason. I'd love to get him but I don't see a trade that makes sense to get him.
Well in that case, I'd pull that trigger without thinking twice.

We've updated our latest post to say the Nets have not given up on getting Melo. Or, they have. Whatever. http://bit.ly/fJXM9S

Nets are not throwing in the towel. Then Knicks are bidding against themselves. Nets don't want that. No Knick writer will retweet that
