It's kind of 6 and 1/2 dozen of the other. Mavs are winning a ton of games this year so you'd hate to break that up but at the same time Wallace brings defense and much needed rebounding to the front court.

Scro, Devin is a decent defender tbh. Better than that 5'9 with T-Rex arms running around. Not a lockdown defender but still decent imo.

Harris has been a ty defender with the Nets, but it's been primarily an effort issue..if you allow him to guard 1s and Kidd against 2s, the Mavs would be fine..as others have said, if Harris is taking minutes from Barea and Terry, this is a good move for the Mavs..if he's just adding to the logjam they have at the 1/2, then I'd be skeptical..
Gerald Wallace is overrated IMO, he's not the type of guy that could succeed on a high-level team, he's too ball-dominant, and his style of play doesn't mesh well with team basketball(from an offensive perspective)..
If the Mavs could get Stephen Jackson, I would be all over it..
With Wallace, there isnt next year any place for bringing back Butler over the MLE and you have still the issue with Barea being the fulltime backup. With Harris, you can let Barea walk instead of paying him 4m/year and bring Caron back with the MLE and boom your rotation of 9 guys is settled.

Why would Harris have to take minutes away from Roddy? Couldn't you play Harris when Kidd needs a spell and use mainly Kidd/Harris/Roddy guard rotations? In my book, anything that takes minutes away from Terry and JJB makes Dallas a more dangerous team, and it's not like they're tall at the 2 right now as it is.
Terry won't be out of the rotation no matter what.
That is why it makes little sense to bring Devin in if you're still gunna have JJB and Deshawn here
Logically it makes perfect sense. The problem is the fact that Carlisle has such a rock hard, diamond cutting erection for JJB and every Mav fan knows he will never remove jj from the rotation.
IMO Dallas should still try and throw the kitchen sink at Charlotte for both S-Jax and Wallace. Their current starting options at SG and SF aren't ideal. This trade is a good go-for-broke trade. I know I sound like his understudy but I'm not sure why mono is the only Mavs fan on this site who understands that their immediate future post-Dirk doesn't matter.

This is a team that is 40-16, to me a deal isn't necessary.
Sure if a great deal falls in your lap you take it, but no way is Cuban going to
"go all in" with Jackson and Wallace. You have to always keep the eye on the future
which is why Cuban may be hesitant to take on long term contracts. Probably is why
he's looking at Devin (as maybe trade bait for D-Will) or have a backcourt of the future in Harris/Roddy.
