No, I agree with you. If the Knicks are going to have any success, Amare needs to get a comparable amount of shots to Anthony.
14 shots in a half is 28 shots in a game. There are countless guys in the NBA averaging over 20 shots a game. I'm not sure what the big deal is, it's nothing to start doing the Berney over.
Most crunch time players(which Melo is) take more shots in the second half, since that's when it's called upon. 14 is pretty ridiculous for a first half. Kobe doesn't even seem to shoot in the first quarter anymore. He hogs his shots for later.
