Rainman telling it like it is

Former Sonics forward Shawn Kemp wasn’t impressed by the stunt that won the dunk contest for Los Angeles Clippers rookie Blake Griffin.
“I’m a big Blake Griffin fan, but that dunk at the contest might have been the weakest dunk in the dunk contest that I’ve seen in a long time,” Kemp told KJR’s Dave Mahler and Ian Furness on Wednesday. “I love the choir and all that stuff was great, but you at least gotta jump over the car though right.”
Griffin jumped over the hood of a car, taking an alley-oop pass from Baron Davis out of the sunroof and finished with a two-handed jam while a gospel choir sang “I Believe I Can Fly.”
“I’m 41 years old and right now I could do it. Two Smart Cars,” he said.
Cool interview and all, but how did they even manage to track him down? How do you go about finding Shawn Kemp in 2011?
Motel 6 with your mother.
tee, hee.
That's the NBA now. Kia's and Justin Beiber.
Have any of you seen Shawn Kemp lately? He weighs about 400 lbs & can no longer see his own feet…Hardly the guy to critique an athlete competing in a slam dunk contest…
Good for him. Now that is a man who could throw it down
or course he can critique. Dude was one of the best in game dunker ever.
The Dude is a slob who ate his way out of the NBA…What next Samaki Walker critiquing Pau Gasol's low post moves?
Griffin's Dunk le makes item # 96 on the list of things that Shawn Kemp calls "illegitimate."
I wasn't going to go there...CLASSIC!
This years dunk contest was the most manufactured, shameless, uneventful, predetermined piece of crap I've ever seen.
Ghad dayum.
Only the Griffin part. Replace him with, say, J.R. Smith, and it would've been great. McGee and DeRozan had great dunks IMO.
I agree.
But what's the point of the "contest" when the NBA goes out of its way to coordinate a "winning" dunk for one guy?
Blake can jam with the best of them but that corporate sponsored crap was the most generic thing I've seen from the NBA in a while.
Best way to put it is that the 2011 Dunk contest was just the NBA gettin there WWE on.
LOL
Shawn's right though. Prime Shawn could outdunk prime Blake any day of the in week.
Kemp got robbed of the le in 1991 because Dee Brown pumped his shoes.
God damn, SFIE is the king of the one liners.
Hands down - Shawn Kemp was the best dunker the league has ever known..
