I'm baffled by what Boston has done, though I'm listening to WEEI right now (about 3pm) and they're saying that after Perk to OKC and after Erden/Harangody to CLE, the C's have another deal of some sort that has them landing the Clippers 2012 #1. Probably not over yet.

edit: apparently the LAC #1 in 2012 was property of OKC and was part of the Perkins/Green deal -- still confused about how LAC could trade their 2011 #1 to CLE yesterday.
Any idea what kind of protection is on that pick?

Boston was the only team I feared, this is great news for the Spurs and the rest of the NBA. Makes no sense at all for Boston though...unless contract demands by Perk were going to be an ongoing distraction throughout the season?Even if that were the case they couldve still done better than Greene though.

    traded for cash

damn maybe Boston is waving the white flag
    No way.

You cant possibly wave the white flag when youre the #1 seed in your conference and are a year removed from a Finals trip. That'd be insane.

Got me. We literally traded 3 of our big guys away, for a second round pick, a decent player, and a ty C. Woohoo.

Exactly. It's insane. The Marquis trade was probably because they didn't think he'd play the rest of the year. That's the only thing I can take from that.

Is Green even playing inside the paint? He looks to me like a big SF who can shoot.

From what little I've seen of Green on the Thunder he seems like a guy with the tools to do some things on the perimeter, just couldn't get a lot of touches sharing the floor with Westbrook and Durant. I just don't see how there's any more touches to go around heading to a team with Allen, Pierce, and KG.

Suddenly all four top teams in the West are unbelievably tough. GREAT deal for the Thunder, they're a force all of a sudden... the series with the Spurs if they meet probably just went from 5 games with a chance at 6 to 6 games with a possibility of 7. Ugh. But this means the Celtics are much more beatable now.

tbh tho boston did offer perks an extension that he scoffed right?

maybe their relationship went out the window there and they deemed that him being disgruntled over the lack of an extension would be too big of a distraction...thats the only thing that would make any type of sense. but even then greene is a horrible fit in boston, they shouldve looked at other options. something like joel przybilla+rudy for perk+nate wouldve been a better move imo.

Maybe it's part of a bigger plan like the CaronforKwamefor Pau ...Ainge is just two moves ahead and we all can't see it?
Are you suggesting Mitch had it all planned that he was going to trade Kwame for Pau Gasol when he traded Caron for Kwame???

That's just ridiculous tin-foil hat thinking.

    Jerry West left Mitch instructions.

Honestly... wtf? Perkins is a great defender, and another big body in the paint... and you trade him (and Nate, who can make dumb decisions but can also make some shots) for Green and Krstic?

Really? Are you just giving up this season? Wtf is the reasoning?
Quite the clowning around... You act like giving up a surplus big and back up point gaurd who give the Celts a little scoring punch and nothing more for a premium scorer in Green and a decent role player of the bench in Krstic. Typical fan to say you hate the trade when deep down inside you love it. Boston doesn't lose much at all, but they gain some definite scoring punch. It deepens the entire roster.

This was a good trade for the Celtics, from a long-term perspective, and it won't be a significant downgrade for this season, if they sign Rasheed, they won't lose anything IMO..

I've been one of the biggest Green haters since he was drafted, so I'm not high on him, but he might learn a thing or 2, playing with KG, Pierce, Allen and playing for Doc Rivers..he still has some potential, he gives the Celtics some athleticism..I don't think much of him at all, but at least he gives them a different dimension..

Perkins is a great screen setter, a great 1 on 1 defender and a very good team defender..however, he doesn't look the same since his injury, he's a horrible offensive player, and he's undoubtedly going to get overpaid..any team that overpays Kendrick Perkins is foolish, and Boston avoided it..he has injury concerns, and he's never going to develop any offensive ability, he's not worth the $ that he's going to get..he's going to get more than what Brendan Haywood got(depending on the CBA, obviously), which is too much, especially as the NBA continues to get faster..

Rasheed only playing for half a season will give you most of what Perkins gives you, especially since Perkins may not be fully recovered from injury, and you don't have to pay Perkins, from a long-term perspective..they're both mediocre offensive players, but Rasheed will still give you very good post D, he knows the system, and he has experience, he'll be fine..

Krstic is a solid bench big man..

Rasheed is washed up and worthless, imo.

He filled in for Perkins in the Finals after the injury to Perkins in the 1st quarter of Game 6, and they still lost both game 6 and 7.

He doesn't hustle and just stands at the 3pt line.
