Granted he has been injured but he is a vastly over-rated player and has always been.

    Dahntay Jones, Nuggets G......5%

Uh.... who thinks Dahntay Jones is overrated? You have to matter to be overrated.

11 mpg players being "overrated" now. Hilarious.

Dont disagree that Perk is overrated ...as player but his value as an intimidator as post presence and "anchor" is underrated. Celts won without him but the Heat and Bulls are "reeling them" in like a Lebron chase down block. So we shall see besides shaw who will be pnr to death by the Heat who takes the hard message foul for the celts now? KG is dirty but he doesnt really do that because he is far too valuable and scares no one. His value is goaltending shots aftre the whistle and showing on pnr and disrupting late game offense ...Perk "put in the dirty work" no one else on the team does. Sure big baby draws charges and Shaq is a HUGE presence (actually too huge) but if this was to make them better against Miami I dont think it does.

I bet Wade and Lebron are looking forward to a playoff poster dunk on Kristic ...Calling at least over/under on sick dunks in a playoff series over Kristic and around shaq, at 5 ...

I do think Green is abtter player and talent but sometimes someone's heart matters more than talent and I questin Green's you nver had to worry about that with Perk.

Great post. Kendrick did a lot of things for the Celtics that went unnoticed. I guess they're trying to start rebuilding ahead of schedule, but they had the best chance to win the le before the trades yesterday. Now I'd put them out of the top 3. I think several teams give them matchup problems. It baffles me that coaches still believe the answer to playing teams smaller than you is to try to go small with them, only with less time to prepare and players who aren't as accustomed to the type of play you're shifting to.

I think the Celtics are also forced to put Shaq on the floor for long stretches of time in the playoffs for interior D presence... which makes me wonder how they plan to run the floor if he's out there.

    Great post as well ...
I agree makes no sense sure Perk was no speedster but because he HUSTLES you have a MUCH better chance of having a big man back in transition. If Im miami I dont play Damp much maybe just spot minutes I would go small and run the out of Boston. Unless they play Green, and go small Celts are SLOWER at EVERY position EXCEPT PG ...
Plus Perk set the best legal/illegal screens in the NBA ...
Perk's NOT as good as duncan as a defensive anchor but he was up there (Especially now that Duncan has slowed a bit) ...BUT the "presence" that Duncan gives is not that easy to quantify ...Perk has some of that.
I still think the celts could win the East but their margin for error got smaller TBH. When Lebron and Wade go in to playoff mode and start scoring and REbounding at their playoff rates Perk could of help fight them off the boards and discouraged them from driving in recklessly at the hoop ...
I bet you Lebron and Wade approve of this move ...

Perk may be overrated as far as his "skill" is to other teams or players, but not to all the guys on the Celtics. The chemistry and toughness he brought to that team will never be replaced, especially with softies like Krstic and Green...
