It was in the newspaper this morning in SA. I think it should wait until shoot around later on too know if it's true or not. I would like to see more of anderson right now, but don't want Neal's stroke to be lost at this point considering the games coming up.

I agree about wanting to see more of Anderson now. But if we have the option of resting a wing player I'd rather it be Manu than Neal. But if we can limit Manu and Neal then the more the merrier. Might look at dusting off Quinn if we think it makes sense.

    Word on Tiago?

    Grizzlies possible playoff opponent

Posted on February 26, 2011 at 11:26 pm by Mike Monroe in Memphis Grizzlies

Tonight’s home matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies is the final game of February for the Spurs. With the playoffs just six weeks away, it’s natural for the team with the league’s best record to begin thinking about potential first-round opponents.
That puts a bit of an edge on the Spurs’ next two games, both against the Grizzlies, who enter today’s game in a tight battle for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
“Memphis is a good team,” Spurs starting center DeJuan Blair said. “They’ve got Zach Randolph. He’s one of my favorites in the league. He’s not athletic, but he works real hard to get where he needs to get.”
Blair, the undersized center whose game is predicated on energy and positioning, sees Randolph, averaging 20.0 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, as a role model.
“He’s definitely a role model that I look up to,” Blair said. “Any chance I get to watch him, I watch him. He’s a double-double-every-night type of guy. Why not look up to him? He’s the perfect guy to look up to.
“I came to appreciate him after I saw him and played against him. He showed me a lot. I didn’t really notice him back then. Now I’ve seen him and watched a lot of games.”
A TRYING SEASON: Rookie guard James Anderson, who logged 18 minutes against the Nets on Friday because fellow rookie Gary Neal had been scratched by the team’s medical staff with a concussion, acknowledged how trying his first season has been.
Never having suffered a major injury in high school or during his three seasons at Oklahoma State, Anderson’s patience was tested as he sat out most of three months with a stress fracture in his right foot.
“It’s been real frustrating,” Anderson said. “Just having injuries, starting back from pre-draft when I had the hamstring, and coming back from that and having training camp to get back on the floor, and then the stress fracture happened. It was just real frustrating.
“I hadn’t been hurt in high school or college, and then I get here, and injuries started coming out of nowhere. I guess it happens to the best of them.”
INJURY UPDATES: Neal did not practice on Saturday, and coach Gregg Popovich ruled him out of today’s game. The 26-year-old rookie suffered concussion-like symptoms after being elbowed in the head in Wednesday’s victory over Oklahoma City. The team’s No. 6 scorer at 9.0 points per game, Neal had played in all 57 games before missing Friday. … Rookie center Tiago Splitter, who has not played since straining his left hamstring on Feb. 9, continues to be listed as day-to-day.

Mayo always goes off on us. Randolph is a match up problem which I believe Pop will have Bonner guard.

This will be a tough game.

That must've been one of a knock to the noggin to take Neal out of commission for this long.

That's a HUGE psychological barrier when you're trying to break a record streak. All the odds are against the Spurs tonight. I think they pull out a very narrow victory, though. The possibility of OT is extremely high...about 90%, IMHO.

No Neal? . We have to have this game because we play them in Memphis net and it will be tough winning in their building.

Concussions are taken pretty seriously nowadays.

Sucks that he won't be available, I've missed watching him shoot the ball.

I'd like to see Anderson back to how he was before the injury, he was doing awesome. Hopefully he can show some of that tonight. Mayo will go off, but I hope we can stop Randolph.
