so you're still gonna hold onto the stance that Deron Williams wasn't hurting his game at all?

Be prepared for Big Daddy Jefferson to make you eat more CROW tbh.

Not holding on, I like his game but im not his agent nor the president of his fan club. just saying, 3 games doesnt prove much. That is like saying Melo was holding down Afflalo or Nene ...

Well Williams was going to make at least one team better in this trade.

Slightly different given we've seen Al Jefferson put up monster numbers for an extended period of time. Nene and Afflalo have yet to prove a consistent ability to score.

    They're still 1-2 since D-Will left.

Ignoring the trade for a second, Jefferson's problem is he hardly ever gets to the free throw line. Leaving points on the table like that prevents him from being a true #1 scorer.

    ^ exactly. 1-5 w/ Corbin. 0-3 w/ D-Will, 1-2 w/o D-Will.

Damn, almost feels like a century ago when he was a Celtic.

    That's true.

They were just bad in general. Should have kept Boozer and not overspent on Millsap two years ago.

Yeah, I really thought he was going to be our next franchise player after his first year. How time flies.

It's been the knock on him since he entered the NBA, yet he has shown very little improvement in that category..I thought he would have gotten at least a little better by now, tbh, same with his passing ability..

As for the thread, Williams has always been overrated IMO(when he's referred to as the clear #1 PG, which he has been referred to during these last 2 years), but I wouldn't knock him for this specific topic..Jefferson was a decent p&r player in previous years, but he's obviously primarily a post player and a much different player from Boozer and Milsapp, which were the primary bigs for Utah's system..

Now that they have to go to him more in 1 on 1 situations, he'll be able to play a more appropriate style for his game..

Tbh, you'd think such a great in winner PG () like Deron Williams would help him get to the FT line.

Bull . PGs constantly get rave reviews and credit for making teammates better. The truth is they only "make guys better" when said player has a game that fits in well with a PG. When there's a player like Jefferson who is most dangerous iso'd in the post, a one-dimensional PG like Deron Williams will do anything BUT make him look better.

Deron sorta treated Big Al like tbh.

    A. Al only ever needed to get lob passes into the established post, not forced pick and roll opportunities and stare downs after they failed.

    and

    B. Deron did a lot of ing (publicly) about the team not knowing the plays. Al doesn't strike me as being the brightest guy in the world, but I don't doubt for a second that he was damn sure trying. Deron also did a lot of ing about not running more. Al Jefferson is a center Deron. I'm sorry you lost Boozer and your man Brewer, but going public, calling Al out in public, over and over and over again probably didn't do much in the way of making him better, or instilling confidence in the team.

For the record, I still think Deron is a great basketball player and pg. He did a very poor job of adjusting his game to the new talent and a great job of blaming everyone else for it. It was a failing, didn't have to be. Hopefully he sees that and won't do it again.

balli is the one person who seems to get it. Big Al is a low post player, why was D-Will trying to force pick and rolls with him?

tbh, i understand exactly what you're saying.

being a post player myself, i've played with guys at the rec who always call for ball screens and then give me a horrible pass on the pick and roll when the guy I'm guarding's like 3 inches shorter. He could've just kept it simple and given me the ball on the block instead of trying to outsmart everybody

Tbh that's because you know about basketball as oppose to 300 lbs. Spurs fans who have nothing to say other than "Melo = classless, Deron = class"
