Denver. Not Portland.
Blazers picking up GW makes them much more athletic and very capable of putting up commanding leads through fast paced runs that I feel exploits mavs lack of legitimate defense and spotty offense. If the mavericks are lucky enough to avoid Portland which other bottom seed could give them a run for their money? My other prediction would be Phoenix, shooters with a good passer ala Warriors 07. Only difference is Suns don't have the guys to literally beat the out of mavs; physically AND on the scoreboard.
to an exciting Playoffs
Denver. Not Portland.
You actually believe Wallace will still play in april?
Its Gerald Wallace IN PORTLAND. He will be injured soon.
portland would go down in 5. they have a well balanced team, but they just simply dont have enough talent.
Barring injuries, it's going to be Spurs, Mavs, Lakers, Thunder in the 2nd round. There's a pretty significant gulf between them and the next 4 teams. Portland probably does have the best shot at a 1st round upset though... if they get the 6 seed it's going to be fun watching Aldridge destroy Gasol and Bynum.
The Mavs would beat Portland in 5 IMO. Andre Miller is probably the one guard on a contending team against whom Kidd and even Terry will love matching up. Chandler/Haywood > Camby/Pryz and Dirk > Aldridge so the frontcourt clearly favors Dallas.
The Blazers have an edge on the wings though: Batum/Wallace/Wes Mathews > Marion/Peja/Roddy/JET. Had Roy been a dominant player, the Blazers would have a good chance, but his minutes are too few. Both teams have a stout defense, so it'll come down to who can make more shots when it matters. And you'd have to give the team with Dirk the nod.
A better scenario for discussion would be Mavs vs Grizz. The Grizz have a powerful frontline with ZBo and Gasol, and they should win the rebounding battle. If they rotate Gay, Mayo, Battier and Sam Young at the wings, that should be better than whatever Dallas can throw at them (some combination of Marion, Peja, Roddy and Terry). Conley is the weak link for Memphis, but Kidd is not in his prime either to take full advantage of that.
I could see any of the lower seeds beating Dallas. At this point I kind of expect it.
osyl, the anti jinx goods![]()
exactly. I could see them pulling one out at home, feeding off the crowd, Aldridge having a big game, etc. but that's it.
Like I've been saying, the Hornets are the only lower seeded team that would scare me, but I can't see them dropping any lower than the 5th seed anyway with d-will and melo heading east. They might get the 4th, if the Thunder slip up. I think they're only a game back
I think the Blazers can beat anybody now. They have the most talent in the league.
but no superstar, that's the problem
tbh, everyone owns Portland.
when's the last time they've been out of the 1st round? they're like the new Houston Rockets. , I think they were the ones who the Rockets actually beat to end their futile streak of 1st round exits![]()
tbh this is really a good point, the guy already has lengthy injury history and now he's in Portland.

Would like a word with you.
LaMarcus Aldridge is a superstar. Brandon Roy is a superstar. Gerald Wallace is an allstar.
There must be something wrong with my browser, i don't see any of those guys listed here??????

If the Mavs are "playoff cursed", then what are the Blazers?
A team with a LOB in their trophy case?
