House Republicans voted in lockstep this afternoon to protect corporate welfare for Big Oil, even as they call for draconian cuts to programs that everyday Americans depend on each day. As the House of Representatives moved toward approving a stopgap resolution to avert a government shutdown for another two weeks, Democrats offered a motion to recommit that would have stripped the five largest oil companies of taxpayer subsidies, saving tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds. The motion failed on a vote of 176-249, with all Republicans voting against (approximately a dozen Democrats joined the GOP)

no, but many sources show that corporate taxes as percentage of total Fed tax income has declined dramatically. Tax evasion, tax avoidance, etc, etc.
If a Human-American gets caught at those tactics, fines and maybe jail.

$45M for NASCAR is subsidizing bubba show biz.
$100B for battery/storage research is strategically critical to reducing dependence on (foreign) oil.

Didn't they have one between January 2009 and whenever Scott Brown replaced Ted Kennedy? Even if they didn't, their odds of actually getting the subsidies repealed where a of a lot better than they are now.

One of those two Independents was a featured speaker at the Republican Convention. Another member of the fabled 60 was a five-term Republican senator from Pennsylvania that switched parties fearing a primary challenge.
Ultimately, the reason that the GOP was so successful with their filibuster blocking measures makes patently clear that the Democrats never had a filibuster-proof supermajority.

... must have corporate money to (re-)win elections. Corporations own legislatures at all levels. Corporations get the tax breaks, subsidies, etc, etc that they pay for, and the ROI is many 100%s. Buying Congresscritters is cheap compared to the $100Bs they give away to corps.
Barry's Dems never had a super majority in anything but name only, with Blue Dog Dems like Ben "Horse's Ass" Nelson voting against the Dems in nearly every big legislation.

Just monkeying around with it a bit, there appears to be some correlation between recipients of a particular PAC and their location...ie lots of oil money goes to oil producing states. Lots of Pharma money goes to states with big pharma plants. Figures, I guess.
Unfortunately sites like that will become fairly useless now that there's no need to disclose campaign contributions.
