Phil Jackson: Artest runs the offense better than Kobe

Getty Images Now it is time once again for one of Phil Jackson’s favorite mind games: subtle — and not so subtle – messages to players through the media. What would we do all day if it weren’t for them?
Today it is Kobe’s turn to be sent a message. Which is rare because Kobe ignore such messages. Because he is Kobe Bryant. Without further ado, we give you Phil Jackson’s quote from NBA.com (via the Orange County Register).
“(Artest is) probably a little better at (the triangle offense) than Kobe is, because Kobe ignores the offense.”Of course, the subtext of this is Artest saying a few months back that the triangle offense still confuses him. It’s all a clever little game Jackson likes to play. Kobe doesn’t care. At all.
Kobe has been breaking out of the offense whenever he thinks the team needs a push since the week after he was drafted. Probably sooner. Kobe understands the offense, he knows how to run it and how to be successful in it probably as well as anyone not named Tex. But when Kobe feels his team needs a pick up he’s not throwing the ball to Pau Gasol in the high post. Kobe will just take over for a minute.
Like at the end of games. Kobe is going to do his thing regardless of what Jackson says. The result is a lot of games like the win over the Thunder Sunday where Kobe does a lot of scoring late but the offense is ignored and the Lakers become inefficient. Still the Lakers still win a lot of the time. So you’re going to see it more. You will see it during the playoffs.
Kobe will be Kobe. And Phil Jackson will be Phil Jackson. And they will politely ignore each other on this issue.
Difficult to argue with success. Three consecutive trips to The Finals, back-to-back, and on the precipice of the most healthy we've been during this near four year trek.
You want it within your pervue, your control. With the departure of Perkins in Boston we've assumed the con.
The stops are beginning to be pulled out, albeit early. Jackson will take up the crop and apply the manner of flogging he sees fit.
Phil will lead Kobe to it, and Kobe will lead us to the end, then we'll have to finish it.
Will Kobe be able to keep it up this year? Odometer is ticking.
Kobe just having more leeway to break the Triangle, nothing to see here. He and Pau break it everytime they exclusively play pnr.
The Bynumeter is ticking too.
He still has enough of his prime to affect the entire scope.
When the "bootie holes be gettin' tight" that's when it is Bryant's killing ground. He'll need Fish to keep a holt of the tether so he doesn't go off half ed & eyed, but, Bryant will only have to worry about 4 teams then, one after another, in turn. The games will slow to a crawl and that's where we weild Excalibur.
Gentlemen, we're close to the bell lap.
Cubby with the gibberish
per the usual
What, Z, yer tellin' me you don't enjoy a good, tight bootie hole?
....as is the Manu-meter.....![]()
I love this quote by Phil. Artest has been playing much better the last handful of games and this is some positive reinforcement for him. He is very mentally weak and insecure so he needs like this to keep him on track. Of course the obvious is to slap Kobe into actually running the ing offense more by telling him that even dumbass Artest has been doing a better job than him.
kobe mustn't be sucking phil's hard enough right now tbh
Like anyone would believe that from Jackson...artest is borderline re ed. He should just be glad artest can put on his uniform straight.
Averaging 5+ less mins this year. You are going to see his activity level increase gradually right up to the playoffs.

This is not a slam geared towards Kobe. PJ knows Kobe could care less. Ths was meant to bolster Rons sketchy ego. You don't think Ron knows Barnes is about to return?

Kobe from the grave (sadly due to kids and wife) worst ball hawking supposed leader ever. PER is terrible for supposed superstar.
