    This is a great point. If it was really the kid that came forward and let the school know he broke policy, and not just "I got caught, now I'm sorry" type of thing, there is a great case for forgiveness.

    They are serious about that honor code though, believe you me.

    Whoah, as soon as a boy or girl reaches puberty, all they want to do is . The Mormon method is to send their young on two year missions for the church after high school, to make them more lonely and horny and introduce them to other former missionaries on their return so they quickly marry and make lots of little Mormons.

    So, are we supposed to believe every sports athelete who ever played for BYU remained a virgin until marriage? Umm...I don't think so, or that Mormon cult has some pretty strong power. Maybe that's why they have breakaway Mormons who collect lots of wives. Too much abstinence means you really need to sow them wild oats.

    The marriage rate at BYU is ridiculous. That is the loophole they use.

    well what I was referring to was the type of hanky panky that results in one's becoming butthurt. I can see how what I wrote might have been understood to be referring to the plural marriage thing.

    And as far as plural marriage is concerned, it is absolutely true the church yielded to the governement. We believe in abiding by the law.

    I'm pretty sure plenty of short white kids have been punished under BYU's honor code. They just didn't make the news.

    Also, yeah, the LDS has a checkered racial history, but at the same time this kid probably got offers from schools that didn't once officially consider blacks to be sub-human AND would let him any coed he wants without censure. Nobody made him go to BYU.
