DoK, you throw racist smack around this board like it's your job. WTF are you talking about?
JoeTait is someone who blames minorities for all of his problems so that response doesn't surprise me.
DoK, you throw racist smack around this board like it's your job. WTF are you talking about?
Clearly some repressed BYU student gets off to catching other BYU students doing the nasty and then turning them in.![]()
Because you blame him for going to a school, rather than blaming the school for the policies that you admit are stupid.
Under that logic, there would still be a color barrier in baseball. Why would Jackie Robinson have ever wanted to play in the MLB when they discriminate against blacks?
Contrary to the "accepted" opinion that all young people want to do is have sex, there are still quite a few people who value virginity and remain virgins until married. It's not impossible - it just takes discipline and morals, which far too many people are lacking now days.
This young man knew the honor code when he chose to attend BYU - so he only has himself to blame for being suspended from the team.
While I agree that kids ing is a somewhat irrepressible part of human nature, it ain't exactly a civil rights issue. It's still a behavioral choice; one that BYU is allowed to be as illogical about as they are. It denigrates civil rights to draw the comparison.
If there were 300 other major leagues that Jackie Robinson could have played in, and he chose to play in the most racist, intolerant of them, yeah, he would have been stupid to make that choice.
BYU doesn't hold a monopoly on Division I basketball. If they did it would be a different situation altogether.
It was his choice to attend that school. I'm respecting him as an adult with free will.
why would the cellphone correct the gramatically appropriate word?
its their american right to have outdated rules. Their privately funded so they can do whatever the they want
Sribb.....PUTS IT IN!!!
If Jimmer Fredette got caught having a gay orgy with multiple other dudes, I guarantee he wouldn't have been kicked off the team.
Maybe not, but he probably would have hidden somewhere to avoid the public scrutiny![]()
And yeah BYU has every right to be racist and have Neanderthal beliefs, my overall point is that BYU claiming they're merely "Upholding an honor code" is bull . This proves how racist they are.
Riiiiight - that's what they do - bring him in just so they can kick him off the team and show him his place right?
They'd just shut down the basketball program if that happened
great point - The kid knew the rules (whether society agrees or not) and its too bad it hurts both him and the team, but he knew what he was getting into.
They brought him in viewing him as a slave for their basketball program. Once their "slave" acted up and started contaminating a white woman like Bringham Young feared, they acted quickly to stop it.
You're an idiot. Seriously? Your hatred for Mormons seems pretty over the top. Did you try to date one and she wouldn't let you nail her? Besides Brigham Young lived in the 1800's. You are quoting it like he said it yesterday.
The kid knew BYU's policy, anyone that goes has to sign the honor code every year and promise to adhere to it. It wasn't a surprise to him. That and he is from Provo (where BYU is located at) and you expected him NOT to know what he was signing up for?
There really isn't anything wrong with being religious and letting religions do what they do. If you want to go to a religious school, then follow the rules. It may not be for everyone (including me) but they are the rules you agreed to.
And you need to get your facts straight. Polygamy was banned before Utah was annexed into the US as it was illegal in the US at the time and if the Mormons wanted to become part of the Union they had to adhere to the law. Therefore the ban.
The people that do it today are excommunicated from the Mormon church and are ostracized. Its splinter groups (like the Westboro crazies) not mainstream.
You don't hear much from the Mormons when it gets on the air because all it brings it bad publicity. But I am willing to bet more boys were molested by Catholic Priests than there are polygamist people claiming to be Mormons.
haha...nice try.
the record demonstrates that you are in fact obsessed with me. last i checked you are the guy who created an alternate username on spurstalk to imitate me in numerous threads (or more acurately, you were imitating the ticket's "indie rock/indie film guy" but just without giving credit).
...so keep lying to yourself about how you 'just barely bother to even respond to me' or whatever if you want to i guess. any spurstalker with a memory won't buy your gy posturing.
"wipe the blood of your vag''
okay seriously, how old are you? this is not a rhetorical question. you perpetually are busy providing evidence that you are one of the less mature kids in your 10th grade class.
" i've never seen anyone get so pissy over people ripping on him"
really? i have. one time i humiliated this guy called mono-something and he got so upset he created a fake profile and sign-on name imitating and mimicing mine so that he could 'get even.' sound familiar?
good look on all of your future endeavors, such as the test you'll be taking to get your driver's license when you turn 16 and your P-SAT's.
Grow up a little, too. Nobody likes iness in a man.
Signed,
Pussyface
PS: ...have a kickass summer!
Lol slomo making a rare appearance to lay pipe
Not sure how BYU is the "bad guy" in all this. They have rules and people have choices, including athletes. Obviously Davies chose to go to the school and subject himself to those rules. I don't hear him whinning about the honor code or the BYU's allegedly discriminatory behavior. I guess he'll leave that to the infinitely more informed folks here.
I think BYU made a stand on its principles. A stand that most other schools wouldn't have the courage to take. I respect that. And those that don't respect it, well, I guess there a lot like those other schools.
Thought Pat Forde said it best.

your arguments fly in the face of logic.
can leonardo dicaprio fanboy claim heterosexual credibility with a straight face? take a moment to ponder this.
i can see that you are a proud graduate of the Hillary Clinton school of "When people make valid points attacking you just say 'aw shucks, they are obsessed with me' University for the Weakminded."
When BY said it doesn't make it anymore right. That kind of deep, passionate hatred doesn't go away with time. The fact BYU hasn't changed its name yet is de able and proves how racist Mormons are. And no I'm not dumb enough to try and date a Mormon, I just have first hand knowledge of how backwards and nutty these people are.
I'm willing to bet the kid had several white teammates plowing their girlfriend and thought it would be OK for him to do. I doubt he knew Bringham Young was such a cold, racist human being.
Agreed. The kid should have done his homework about Bringham Young's radical racism before going to his school.
That's what I'm saying. Mormons wanted to be Polygamists and force marriages, the only reason they don't is because of laws against it. What kind of immoral human beings need laws to tell them forcing multiple 13 year olds to marry a 50 year old is wrong?
The people that do it today are true Mormons basing their belief system off of none other than the prophet Joseph Smith himself.
Gee I wonder why
Catholics are no better than Mormons for letting that go on. You won't hear me singing praises about Catholics.
Obviously you know BYU better than me, so I won't waste our time arguing about their beliefs. I respect them for making rules that hold their student body to a high standard and then enforce those rules, even when it would be more advantageous to them for not keeping them.
That's pretty clear logic, I think. Though I'm pretty weakminded.
