Total mind if you ask me. I'd rather not give two s as to what that organization says.

The San Antonio Spurs own the best record in the NBA (50-11), were the first team to 50 wins this season and own the lead in the Southwest Division.
Despite that, Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki thinks the Los Angeles Lakers, not the Spurs, are the team to beat:
"I think the Lakers to me are still the heavy favorite in the West. After that, there are a bunch of teams bundled up. But I still think the Lakers are the heavy favorite in the West.''
"They've won two ( les) in a row, they're long and they got the same players and they got the best player in the world,'' Nowitzki said.
Of course Spurs fans "favorite" Maverick Jason Terry agreed with his teammate and in an ironic twist, actually complimented the Spurs' success this season:
"No question, the Lakers, always, because they're the champs,'' Terry said of who the favorite is in the West. "But what San Antonio has done makes them a favorite, too. We're chasing all those guys and we're going to play out this underdog role."
I understand the Lakers are the defending champs and own the crown but shall I remind Nowitzki and Terry the Spurs are 2-0 against Los Angeles. Also, it's the Spurs the Mavericks are chasing for the number one seed and not the Lakers.
Total mind if you ask me. I'd rather not give two s as to what that organization says.
This is true. Until the Lakers are dethroned, no one else is the team to beat.
Yep. Nothing to get upset over. The lakers the champs until someone knocks them off.
Thats true. The Spurs haven't won this year. Defending champs are the Lakers.
Spurs are 0-1 against the Mavs with Dirk on the floor. IMO they are playing the best of anyone in the league right now and are the Spurs' biggest threat this season.
Perhaps, but the Lakers aren't even going to have home-court advantage beyond the first round.
WCF will be Spurs-Mavs.
That's more fact than opinion. What are they like 17-1 in their last 18 games ?
The Spurs would agree.
Defending champs are always the favorites until somebody beats them. Regular season records mean very little.
WTF??? I think you need to rest your crazy brain. Quit making up.
just posting what i found....dont put a bad spin on it...
The champs deserve the respect. The West does go through them. Spurs are nothing but another contender.
Deep down in your consious you know the Lakers are the Team to beat . What JT and DN said is like TD and TP saying Mavs haven't won the Lakers are the ones to beat.
Lakers are the ones to beat. Especially in the Mavs bracket.
you know who else said that, the spurs
Uh, this is absolutely true. The Lakers are the two-time defending champions. They should be the ones with the target on their back, no matter what.
Dallas has to say this because they are going to have to go through the Lakers first to get to the Spurs.
True... champs are always the team to beat unless they completely fall apart in the regular season.
If I were Dallas, I'd worry about that #7 seed.
It didn't work out that well last time.
Yep. Pop made his "lakers are the team to beat" statement earlier in the year.
Newsflash: a roster that is first or second in the league in highest payroll is not an underdog.
The Lakers are the defending champs, and Kobe has face ed the Mavs in spectacular fashion over the years. The Lakers also aren't playing particularly well; there's no sense in trying to rile them up.
