Yeah, if you prorate the .740 win %, we win 60 or 61 games that season.
Actually, if you properly adjust the percentage for that season, you have to remember that they started off 6-8. Once they started to click, they went .861, which is a 71 win pace, or 65 games despite the slow start.

If Duncan played for a big market like LA he'd be at 12 straight 60 win seasons.

Don't forget, we lost like 8 of our first 14 games that year.

You're right. I think it all can be boiled down to defense. After thiking about it, it seeems a pretty clear cut decision.

Each was a spectacular offensive force in his own respective way. Having Timmy in the paint make all other players on the team better defensively.
Also, TD covered a lot of deficiencies and mistakes for his teammates.

Don't forget, we lost like 8 of our first 14 games that year.
Who can forget everybody calling for the Spurs to fire Pop and trade David Robinson?

That would have been great reading the ESPN articles on how free agents flock to play alongside Duncan because he's so much fun to play with and such a good teammate.

I would never get tired of reading that.

Yeah you would, because those would only be written about Tim Duncan the Laker or Tim Duncan the Knick.

Does the streak stop at 12 for Magic because Duncans streak should really be 14 straight seasons if it wasn't for the lockout year. We were on pace for 61 wins that year.
With a potential lockout looming next year it looks like the only team that can stop Tim Duncan is one of lawyers...

Duncan's streak is more impressive but Magic was the better player.

But if TD gets another one, it will be a tough call.

Here's a question for Spurs fans, do the Spurs make the Finals in TD's rookie season if he doesn't sprain his ankle in game two against Utah?

And if the Spurs play the Bulls, could they beat them?

I give TD the slight edge because of his defense as far as the better player. From what I remember, Magic seemed to be somewhat of a defensive liability.
