What?
Las Vegas is far greater than NO. The Strip alone makes up like 80% of Vegas' greatness. NO does not even compare. The only reason NO might be in the discussion is because of Mardi Gras.
Really though, Las Vegas is a whole 'nother world.

I been n.o, outside the Strip, I will give the edge to Nola.

I lived in Las Vegas for years before moving to Northridge Cali. People seem to think that the the whole city of vegas is like the strip but it's not. Outside of the strip, vegas is BORING. I visited New Orleans last year for the first time and that city is unlike any other city I ever visit. Sorta reminds me a lil of Miami.
New Orleans & Miami>>>>Vegas
That's a re ed statement. It's like saying that without her ass Kim Kardashian isn't that hot, well no , that's what makes her bangable. The Strip has more entertainment in 4 miles than ANY other city in the world has in it's entirety. Girls, clubs, restaurants, resorts...etc all pretty much an elevator ride from your room. I wouldn't live in Vegas for any amount of money because yeah off of the strip it's pretty gross, but if I had 1 weekend left to live, I would spend it in LV.
I'm going to have to disagree.

Coming from SOMEONE who lived in Vegas, I know what I'm taking about. Miami has girls, clubs, restuarants, resorts, etc... Same can be said for other major cities. What I'm saying is that no other city can put on a party like New Orleans and many people will agree. Vegas will still be in my top 5.
Oh wow the desert![]()
Vegas on NYE > All
What does that prove?? An resort like in 109999666 other cities where people can snowboard one season every year.
It proves that Las Vegas isn't boring if you manage to turn off the XBox.
LV>>>>>>>NO
Been to both, New Orleans has it's nuances, but there is nothing you can't get in Vegas for entertainment 24 hrs a day.
My baby Carlos had fun there to, even got to jerk off by the pool and nobody cared.
I agree with baseline that there are a lot of fun things to do in Nevada and that the area surrounding Las Vegas is beautiful and fun to explore. That said, those things ain't the city itself and aren't really pertinent to the discussion.
Limiting the comparison to the cities themselves, Vegas has nothing on New Orleans. I've been to Vegas more times than I can count, ever since I was a kid, and I've never not been bored by day four. On the other hand, I've lived in New Orleans for almost nine months now and it's becoming clearer and clearer that I could live here for years before finally getting to everything I want to do here. I've yet to go out without discovering some new fantastic bar, or neighborhood, or restaurant, or stumble into a club with amazing live music. And I've been to more concerts here (concerts, not just bar bands) in less than a year than I had in the previous several years. Bourbon Street is a horrible bore, and Mardi Gras only happens once a year, but there are festivals, art walks, neighborhood markets, and the like on a weekly (if not daily) basis.
Vegas is a cesspool, just like this thread. It's faux glamour and excess. It smells like cheap cologne and chemical fountain water. I've been more than a few times. It's a ty, ty place. It's all fine and good for a matter of two days. Anybody who would rather travel to and/or live in LV over New Orleans is a creep.
How in the world do you even compare the two? I mean, I don't have a preference because both have their good things and bad, but in all sincerity it should come down to a matter of what is more sustainable: The experiences of which city provides the most memories and then you can go from there. Personally, its a toss because at least with Las Vegas you're closer to another place that offers tons to do (SoCal) and the closest thing to New Orleans is Miami and its still further than the trek from LV to LA. Can't beat the fun times in NOLA though...the humidity on the other hand will always be a blechhh aspect.
I don't know that I'd go so far as creep, but anyone who would rather visit/live in Vegas over New Orleans is definitely someone whose definition of fun is vastly, VASTLY different than my own.
So basically if you're over 30, New Orleans.
Under 30, Vegas.
All those places are pretty short drives from LV of less than 50 miles. Disregarding them is almost like ignoring the beach when talking about LA because Malibu, Huntington, Redondo, Santa Monica, etc. aren't in the city proper.
Both of the cities are holes. But vegas is obviously wayyyyy better.
bah. It's a question of taste. Do you want tradition, authenticity, something real? Culture? Or some superfluous, fake, engineered Oz where the curtain is put up to make everyone less aware that they're in the place that induces more selfishness and self-loathing than any other city on earth.
While I obviously respect and agree with your opinion about the desert. I personally couldn't imagine experiencing the empty, clean void of the American Southwest, then ending the day by checking into a room at The Belagio.
Vegas has better golf courses.
