I actually do remember midnight picking up a basketball. He was at a sporting goods store walking towards the archery section when he accidently knocked over a basketball. The single biggest global factor affecting gas prices is supply and demand (read china). It's affecting the US economy, black or white, by how much we pay at the pump. It disproportionately affects the poor (read Koolaid) because they have less discretionary income.
The recent hiccup in the middle east has only exacerbated the problem as established pipelines have been affected, but the laws of supply and demand always rule.
