God doesn't protect. Life on Earth is a short journey for all when you compare it to the time after death. Body + Soul = human existance on Earth.
there is life that goes beyond what you know now. What is impossible for man is possible for God.
Life is the soul , the body is 3 dimensional and meant to only exist in 3 dimensions, it is just a vessel for this dimension of existance. It is basically worthless in the end and will be returned to dust. You will enter the next life with the same consious as you exit this one. There is no death other than the body.
Go to the light after death. From there you will find the way through the portal to another dimension. All truth will be known there, all justice made.

There have been many cases were people who never went to church or always said God doesn't exist wind up confessing differently on their death beds. What people say in a web forum and in public is not what they say when they are alone or scared for their lives. I am sure 50% of the victims in WTC tower two were screaming Gods name when the tower was collapsing due to explosives.
With that said those of you who still think when you die that's it, good news is you will know for sure when it happens. It's not like a mystery like who was on the Grassy knoll or did NASA lie about the moon landings. When you die and your spirit/soul leaves your body I hope you remember this topic and say "oh " those asshole's were right!

Doesn't exactly mean that there is or isn't a god.
Someone could be faced with a life or death or a near death...or even a temporary death and return to life and experience many things...
the problem with that experience and with people relating that experience to others seems to be a "lost in translation'' problem...
because the human thinking mind will try to formulate an explanation by relying on concepts, words, and language limitations...
but truth/god/love cannot be adequately explained by humans....
it's like if I just went on a roller coaster ride and literally just exploded with excitement and adrenaline...
and I describe it to you...
you might begin to get an IDEA or a feel for what I experienced...but you'll never really know exactly what I experienced...
same thing with near death experiences or people that have crossed to another side/dimension/portal...they describe white lights, freedom, happiness, love,etc...

It can't.
You can point to the opposites to try and understand something, for example, if you want to describe truth...you can point out falseness,deceit,lies,etc...
that would kinda give someone a direction, a clue, a lead to discover some truth...
but as soon as you try to explain truth itself...you have lost your way and you end up like some experts do on tv (when they are labeled an expert at anything-they end up looking like asses) or like some preacher in a church who is SURE he knows God...
and all he ends up doing is misinterpreting everything that he read in a book.

You answered your own question...you described precisely why that phenomenon occurs...people who never believed in God praying to him under TERRIFYING moments. Is it really necessary to explain?
If in fact when "we" die we finally observe some afterlife...."oh , they were right" is the last thing I'll be caring about. I'd be celebrating in complete ecstasy, simply because it isn't nothingness. Our counterparts on the other hand, if encountered in the situation that they were incorrect, they won't ever be able to realize if they were or weren't. Which is kind of funny...you may spend your entire life thinking about silly things and attending stupid masses and celebrations that in the end were for nothing. Not even worth a verdict on the out-standing question.
