You've got a very restrictive definition of easy.

The Spurs need the tough games. Despite how good they are on offense, they still aren't playing good enough defense to make feel comfortable about their chances in the playoffs.

This. Games like last night against the Kings of the league do nothing to get this team hardened for the postseason. If HCA is goal number 1, then getting ready for the playoff should be 1A.

Could not have said it better myself. Win or lose, Pop knows he still has to get this team playing better defense.

quite possible, but that should be enough to hold HCA throughout the playoffs, especially if they beat the Mavs and Celtics

What Im concerned is, POP pulling in the reigns to rest their starters and messing up their rhythm.
One thing for sure is we will all enjoy these great games against good teams.

    10-7 is more than enough.

That gets the Spurs to 63-19. To equal that the three remaining teams would have to finish:

    Boston: 17-2
    Dallas: 16-1
    Chicago: 17-1

There is no way this team goes 10-7 unless we clinch the first seed so early that we loose games to rest the big 3.
This team is most likely going for a 15-2 or 14-3 run, that can only be stopped due to clinching the season early.

you are not considering the quality of the teams the SPURS will be facing in the rest of the schedule. It's BY FAR the most demanding stretch of the season.

If it is the most demanding it's not by much. Check Dec 5th to Jan 7th, for example.

Home games against NO, Atl, Port, Memp, Phx, Den, the Lakers and OKC. Road games against Den, Orl, Dallas, NY, Boston, and Indy.

Spurs went 13-4 in that stretch.

By the time we play the last couple games, they'll probably be meaningless because the standings will have been determined. So for example, we probably won't play our starters against the Lakers or the Suns.

10-7 is a reasonable prediction, and should get them HCA.

Another reasonable prediction is that if they finish 10-7, there will be considerable butt-clenching about the playoffs in here.

    True.

Predicting what will happen to the Spurs is difficult. Predicting how ST will react is ridiculously easy.

I think we win that game against the Heat on Monday. I think we also win against the Grizz on 3/27. No reason we can't beat Denver either.

I just don't like the trend lately. Playing 48 minutes was what got them off to this great start. Don't think they've played a 48 minute game since the ASB. The Lakers game wasn't a wake up call, because they came out strong fell asleep against Detroit.

They can play defense, and they can rebound. The question is do they want to.

Oh, I'm one of them. I still don't see signs of a defense that will get them past the second round.
