And if it wasn't for officiating that favored the Mavs vs. the Spurs that year, they never would have gotten that far anyway. Even if you ignore the countless ridiculous fouls that got Spurs players ejected in several games, they called the foul on Ginobili in game 7 (legit call) but swallowed their whistles 6 seconds later when Dirk hacked Duncan across the forearms at the end of regulation.

Perfect officiating that year would not have resulted in a Mavs championship. It would have prevented you from being there in the first place.
This. Games 3 and 4 of that series were decided on some bull ticky tack fouls at the tail end of the game. Most of them were on Bruce Bowen guarding Dirk. He didn't get quite the gifts that were given to Wade in the Finals, but it was damn close.

You know though after all the Cuban talked about the Spurs and San Antonio, and Jason Terry's nut punch on Fin, there was nothing more satisfying than seeing the Mavs gag away the championship as Karma took over.

    lolololol classic GNSF responses

" Mavs can't whine about fouls against Miami because they got all the calls in the WCSF!"

that's gotta be in the Holy Trinity with "Manu>Everything" and "Spurs=Class"

btw Phil's comments had nothing to do with Dallas. It was 100% about mind games with Miami, specifically Wade. Phil only plays mind games with teams he considers a threat, there's no reason to consider Dallas a threat. But LA has every reason to be threatened by Miami.

The Mavs were up 2-0 and had a double digit lead in the 4th quarter of game 3....and choked it away....after that, the Wade love fest began...nearly 100 FTs in 6 games is absolutely ridiculous, especially when almost all of them seemed to come in the final 4 games.

As far as the Spurs/Mavs series. Yes, Dallas got some calls. So did the Spurs. I am upset because the Spurs committed stupid turnovers late in 3 of the 4 losses. These were unforced errors. Like one of them was Manu dribbling the ball off his leg and out of bounds. Also, the Spurs missed key shots and FTs, whereas Dallas converted. In game 7, Manu should have let Dirk have the layup. Dallas would have had to foul, as the Spurs would have been up 1 with seconds to go. Who knows how it would have ended after that. Unfortunately, Manu did foul. Dirk fouled Duncan on the layup attempt, but no call. Manu missed the rebound put in and the game went into OT. Of course, even if the foul would have been called, there is no guarantee that Duncan makes a FT, but he should have been given the opportunity.

Still, the Mavs won, the Spurs lost. It still bugs me, but hey, the Spurs should have played better in the closing minutes of several of those games.

I didn't watch the Finals at all that year, but it was nice to find out the Mavs choked away a ring. Thank you Dallas for warming the les of my heart.

He is obviously trying to rattle Wade's cage because the Lakers have been s acked twice by the Heat, but it won't work and it doesn't matter because the Heat won't make it to the Finals. The Lakers are the safe bet, but they have stiffer compe ion this year than the previous two.

It was a comprehensive hit by Jackson:::Stern, Cuban, I suppose Wade since several others are citing him. Jackson is preparing the battlefield. Last season he went to the whip early on player minutes, this season he's going outside the organization for sustenance & aid.

I like to think of Phil as dignified, somewhat righteous dude (really the only person in the org who is close), but if he wants to get down and wrestle in the with Cuban, he might be dumber than I thought. Not his best work, tbh.
