what makes you think that god cannot be explained by the human mind?
you say preachers misinterpret truth, but you very concretely say that "mystics" have it figured out.Truth may be sighted suddenly...and in that moment...the mystics..become enlightened...but truth cannot be explained...it cannot be conceptualized...if you try you will fail...but you know that you experienced it...and the mystics realized that it was best to shut up because it is impossible to put the truth into words...you can only point to falseness...nothing can be said about truth...so instead try to point out falseness and this would give you an idea of truth...
do you or do you not see the problem with this?

where do you get your information from that god is the opposite of fear?nothing can be said about god...but maybe try to point to the opposite--which is fear...talk about fear and you will begin to understand what god is NOT...etc...

this post absolutely is metaphysical rambling.I never assumed that god exists or doesn't...but this is my opinion and my opinion only...not that I know more or less than anyone ...I certainly don't pretend to know the unknowable...but i will tell you what my opinion is until now---and if I ever learn more before I die then I will just have a different opinion at that time---it still won't mean that I know the absolute truth about god;
but to me ...God is the same as love...God=Love...no more no less...
I don't look at god as something that is separate from other beings or separate from things in the universe...just a state called love...

Asking someone to prove he doesn't exist is not the same thing as asking for proof of his existence.I try to accept that we cannot prove that he does exist---and we cannot prove that he does NOT exist...

The reasons that the human mind cannot explain god/love are that the mind is filled with barriers that prevent seeing. To know love or to see love requires subtraction --not addition.
This means that instead of adding...knowledge, effort, research,etc...one needs to subtract things...such as beliefs, conditioning, prejudices,fears,etc...
To love is to see...but if a mind is full of barriers that prevent seeing then it is impossible to ever see.
For example;
If you are raised as a Jew/Catholic/agnostic,...whatever...and you see the world in this way...you already have one barrier...
then you identify yourself as a male/female....rich/poor...white/black...american/chinese/japanese...republican/democrat...
each of these labels above are barriers to seeing...a person is practically blind by the time he tries to find answers to the mysteries of god/love/spirituality...
These are self-evident truths available to anyone who travels the road of spirituality/awareness/mysticism....
You asked before who are these people and I gave you an example...which are mystics/zen masters/monks,etc...
These are people (but not the only ones--as this is available to anyone) that have taken this path of truth and they discover that as they go along this path...it is most important to meditate in silence...and in silence they begin to discover these truths...as they peel away layers and layers of conditioning,fears,beliefs,prejudices,etc...when the mind begins to empty itself of barriers to truth...
Thomas Aquinas...was an example ...as towards the end of his life...he described a grace and detachment that he allegedly had been graced with...and then he went into silence...would not speak...FOR YEARS...until he died...he knew he had made a fool of himself so he just went silent...
in one of his final writings he stated that the highest form of knowledge of god is this:
there are 3 ways of knowing god...1)in the creation...2)in god's actions through history...3)in the highest form in the knowledge of god-to know god tanquam ignotum ( to know god as the unknown).
The highest form is to know that one does not know. In another place he says god is the unknowable.
The reference I made to a preacher--was that IF he says god says this or god says that---THEN he is misinformed. I don't know if every preacher does this so I was referring to one who tries to tell you something that came from god.
Mystics generally don't do this as they have discovered that god is not something outside of us that directs us to do or not do things. Mystics also know that to try and interpret anything coming from god's mouth is foolish...
Here's one more example of how the human mind would get tripped up in discovering truth/god/divinity/love/etc...
What is eternal life?
People might say that it is everlasting life...but theologians will tell you that this is crazy,because everlasting is still within time. It is time perduring forever. Eternal means timeless-no time. The human mind cannot comprehend that. The human mind can understand time and can deny time- but what is timeless is beyond our comprehension.
Mystics tell us that eternity is RIGHT NOW.
On God and fear...this is another self-evident truth--I can only explain it this way...
There are only two things in the world-Love and Fear. Only one evil in the world-Fear. There's only one good in the world-Love...It is sometimes called by other names such as happiness or freedom or peace or joy or God or whatever...but the label does not really matter.
There is not one single evil in the world that cannot be traced to fear. Fear of losing something or having something taken away or fear of not getting something that you want. Ignorance and fear ignorance caused by fear--that is where violence comes from,etc...
The person who is fearless is the person who is truly non-violent who is incapable of violence.
a southern baptist preacher will say you are misinformed and that God clearly lays out a path to salvation. He would also say that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."
why should I believe either one of you?
you both sound silly.
You and I have an inner truth gauge...the more you can peel away layers of things that blind you...the closer and purer your vision will become.
Then you will recognize truth when it is in front of you. No one needs to convince you as this would only be brainwashing...you have to free your mind until it can see these self-evident truths...if you want to follow the path of truth.
When you are able to free yourself of all these layers...you will see with a vision that is unclouded by fear or desire.
